Who’s ready for a great weekend?

Check below for our list of five games to watch this weekend in college basketball.

In no particular order:

Boise State at Nevada (Friday)

Can the Broncos pick up their second Quad 1 win of the week after beating Colorado State at home on Tuesday? Don’t rule it out of the realm of possibility. Boise State is the sixth team in the Mountain West to join the NCAA Tournament discussion.

Nevada is currently on an eight-game winning streak and has one of the sport’s least appreciated guard tandems with Jarod Lucas (17.6 points) and Kenan Blackshear (16.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists).

St. John’s at Creighton (Saturday)

The Red Storm have lost nine of their last 10 games in Omaha, but they’ve never gone there with Rick Pitino as their head coach. The Hall-of-Famer has invigorated St. John’s defense over the past few weeks and has the Red Storm tied for first place in Big East play.

Creighton has won three straight games and is averaging 80.8 points.

Kentucky at Texas A&M (Saturday)

Many people -- including me -- felt before the season that the Aggies were a dark horse candidate to reach the Final Four in April. If they lose on Saturday, they’ll be just two games over .500.

And Kentucky? Other than UConn, no team in the sport has a higher ceiling.

San Diego State at New Mexico (Saturday)

A decade ago, this was the must-see rivalry in the Mountain West. Since then, the Lobos have been mostly irrelevant nationally and haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2014.

Getting back there in 2024 will hinge on getting big wins, starting with this weekend’s game against the Aztecs. New Mexico currently does not own a Quad 1 or 2 win.

Houston at TCU (Saturday)

The Cougars were a combined 46-6 in regular season league games during their final three years in the American Athletic Conference. If they lose on Saturday at TCU, they’ll be 1-2 in Big 12 play.

I’m still not sold on Houston’s interior scoring as 26 of the Cougars’ 50 field goal attempts in Tuesday’s loss at Iowa State were from three-point range.
