4 FanDuel Stacks to Target in Week 8

Stacking in daily fantasy football on FanDuel is a key strategy and a way to shoot for upside. There are a few different ways to correlate lineups that can help us maximize our ceiling.

The classic stack is a quarterback with one of his pass-catchers. Sometimes, it makes sense to use two pass catchers with their signal-caller, especially when the target share is concentrated around two players.

In other situations, we can pair a running back and a defense on the same team. This makes sense when a team is a huge favorite and expected to dominate, which can lead to carries for the back and chances for sacks and turnovers for the D/ST. We also can look to deploy a game stack -- rostering a QB, one of his pass-catchers, and a pass-catcher from the other team. Game stacks can work best in matchups that have high totals and close spreads.

Our Brandon Gdula did a study on stacking that is worth checking out before you make your lineups.

Here are four of the best stacks to zero in on in NFL DFS for this week's main slate.

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes ($9,000), Travis Kelce ($9,000), and Rashee Rice ($6,000)

This stack worked wonders for those fantasy managers who used it last week, so let's go right back to it in an even better spot.

Patrick Mahomes did Mahomes-like things in Week 7, throwing for 424 and 4 touchdowns. There was some talk about how the Kansas City Chiefs' offense wasn't as explosive or dynamic this season -- which was true to some extent -- but Mahomes quickly shut down those talks.

He found old reliable, Travis Kelce, 12 times for 179 yards and a touchdown. Kelce is now clearly the TE1 on the season with nearly 21 half-PPR points more than anyone else at the position despite missing Week 1.

Despite some ups and downs, we've always known Kelce-Mahomes to be an elite stack. A rookie receiver has entered the conversation in the form of Rashee Rice. Rice saw his role increase last week, recording a season-high 65% of routes run, per PFF.

65% of the routes may not sound great, but Rice has been targeted on 28% of his routes this season. That's second on the team among receivers this season. For just $6,000, I'm willing to include him in Mahomes lineups with the hopes that KC keeps increasing his role.

The Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos for the second time in three weeks. Things didn't go according to plan in the first matchup. Kansas City really struggled to punch the ball into the endzone in that game.

Denver ranks 32nd in pass defense, according to numberFire's schedule-adjusted metrics. They also are 32nd in adjusted fantasy points per drop back. They allow insane efficiency to pass catchers as well, ranking 31st in adjusted fantasy points per target to receivers and 28th to tight ends.

Kansas City has the third-highest implied team total on the slate (26.5 points), and this stack can be all the players you need if they are to exceed that total.

Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts ($9,200), A.J. Brown ($8,700), and Dallas Goedert ($6,200)

The Philadelphia Eagles' offense continues to be a force this year -- much like last year. Jalen Hurts continues to be a top three fantasy quarterback in the league, and this week is no different.

One difference between last year's offense and this year's has been the target distribution. We've now seen A.J. Brown separating himself from DeVonta Smith, which he didn't do in 2022. Brown has seen 32% of the targets while Smith sits at just 22%.

A receiver as efficient as Brown getting 32% of the targets can lead to explosive results. He has over 125 yards in five straight games as only the second player in the last 50 years to do that.

We can add in Dallas Goedert to this stack to help us knock out the brutal tight end position. Goedert has received a target share of 21% and is the TE2 since Week 5.

The Eagles will face the Washington Commanders this week. Brown torched Washington for 175 yards and two touchdowns in their Week 4 meeting. Washington ranks 28th in numberFire's pass defense metrics while also ranking 28th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to WRs and 27th against tight ends.

Philly has an implied team total above 25 points. If Hurts isn't throwing a touchdown to one of these two players, he's likely doing a "Brotherly Shove" for a rushing touchdown. That gives him elite upside in a game like this.

Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson ($8,800), Mark Andrews ($7,700), and Zay Flowers ($6,500)

You may be sensing a bit of a theme here with three QB/WR/TE stacks.

It makes a ton of sense to tie your tight end to your quarterback. The reason being that the most likely way a tight end will break the slate is through touchdowns -- not from racking up catches and yardage.

So next, we'll have the Baltimore Ravens coming off of an eruption last week. Lamar Jackson had the exact game fantasy managers dream about; throwing for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns while also adding a score with his legs.

He was able to get Mark Andrews going; his favorite target had 63 yards and 2 touchdowns. Andrews has seen 33% of the endzone targets for Baltimore.

The Ravens brought in a few new wide receivers, but Zay Flowers has certainly been the most impressive. He leads the team with 27% of the targets and has run 93% of the routes. Flowers has yet to have a true breakout game, but for $6,500, he's usable in stacks with Lamar.

Baltimore heads out west to play the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona's really struggling to defend the pass. They are 31st in schedule-adjusted pass defense this season.

With the Ravens having the second-highest implied team total on Sunday, Lamar, Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers have slate-breaking potential, too.

New York Jets

Breece Hall ($7,200), New York Jets D/ST ($4,400)

We'll mix things up for the last stack here and look to the battle of New York -- or New Jersey?

The New York Jets went into their bye week winning two games in a row, and what really got their offense going was Breece Hall.

Hall saw an average of 25 adjusted opportunities (carries plus double targets) in those two games. There was certainly nothing holding Hall back talent-wise; he just needed a bit of time to ramp up to speed from a torn ACL in 2022.

The bye week should help heal even more and get ready to go up against the New York Giants. The Giants are 24th in adjusted fantasy points per carry allowed to running backs.

The other aspect of this stack is the Jets defense that has a significant advantage against the Giants' banged-up offensive line. They are the 30th-ranked unit by PFF entering this week, having surrendered the second-most sacks in the NFL (37) so far.

The Jets are averaging 2.2 takeaways per game. If they are able to pressure the quarterback this week, that should lead to even more turnovers.

We could see the Jets give Breece Hall a ton of volume if the defense dominates against the Giants' offense. That's what gives this stack the correlation it needs to be played together in tournaments.

The Jets' D is projected by numberFire for the second-most points at the position while Hall is the fourth-best value at RB, so this stack comes with a pretty nice discount across the board to fit in the higher-salaried offenses mentioned previously.
