Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Ryan O'Reilly

To Score a Goal (+165)

The Nashville Predators have a strong 3.78 implied goal total tonight and will look to pile up the goals versus the Anaheim Ducks.

Over the last two weeks, the Predators are scoring a modest 2.46 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is 16th in the league. That's really nothing to write home about but if we glance at their Expected Goals Scored (xGF), they are up at 3.04, which is the sixth-best in the league.

They're generating a ton of scoring chances on offense but haven't been able to find the back of the net.

When it comes to the Ducks, over these same two weeks, they are allowing 2.87 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 12th worst in the league. Their Expected Goals Allowed (xGA) is up at 2.99, which is the fourth-worst in the league.

So we have an offense due for some positive regression and a defense due for some negative regression.

That leads me to Ryan O'Reilly, who is the center on the first forward line and the first power-play unit for the Predators. Over his last five games, he has a solid 13 shots on goal but only a single goal to show for it.

With this weak defense in front of him, O'Reilly is in a spot to find the back of the net.

Connor McDavid

To Record 2+ Points (-125)

A massive 4.23 implied goal total for the Edmonton Oilers means one thing -- player props for Connor McDavid.

We all know that McDavid is the best player in the NHL and the scoring can come early and often for him. That's exactly what we've seen from the Oilers in recent games as they are scoring 4.00 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the best in the NHL over the last two weeks.

This has allowed him to rack up 16 NHL points over his last 10 games, a rate he should build on versus the lowly Chicago Blackhawks.

Over the last two weeks, Chicago has been in the bottom three of the league for the most Goals Allowed (3.43) and Total Shot Attempts Allowed (73.28), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

They are a mess on defense and with the hot streak McDavid has been on, he's primed for another huge game.

Rasmus Andersson

Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+106)

The Calgary Flames have a great matchup versus the Ottawa Senators and it should lead to plenty of consistency for props.

It's a busy slate of NHL games tonight but the Flames should be near the top of the list in terms of player props. The Senators continue to struggle on defense and given what we have from the Flames' offense, this could be very one-sided.

Over the last two weeks, the Senators have allowed the fifth-most (66.78) Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. For the Flames, they are producing the ninth-most (64.84) Total Shot Attempts in the same situations over the last two weeks.

It's two teams at the opposite ends of the spectrum and it should lead to plenty of shots for the Flames.

I'll turn to Rasmus Andersson, who is the defender on the Flames' first defensive pairing and their first power-play unit. He has hit the over on this prop in six of his last 10 games, including four games with at least four shots on goal.
