3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Tuesday 1/23/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Brady Tkachuk To Score a Goal (+125)

The Ottawa Senators have a juicy 3.50 implied goal total against the Montreal Canadiens in what should be a very high-scoring affair.

Over the last two weeks, both teams are in the bottom four of the league for the most goals allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. Defense has been optional for these two teams, and we should see a sloppy but exciting game tonight.

For the Senators, over these same two weeks, they are scoring a staggering 3.93 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which actually leads the entire NHL. Yes, one of the worst overall teams in the league has turned their offense up to another level and is shockingly pouring in goals lately.

This leads me to their captain, Brady Tkachuk, who leads the team with 19 goals and 184 shots on goal this season. Surprisingly, Tkachuk has just two goals in his last five games and one goal over his last four games.

Despite this massive offensive outburst, their best goal-scorer hasn't been too involved. However, given this soft matchup, Tkachuk is primed to find the back of the net tonight.

Artemi Panarin Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-128)

The San Jose Sharks are on tonight's slate, which means we target them for shot props.

It's really that simple when we see the Sharks on the slate; they are the worst defensive team in the NHL. Over the last two weeks, the Sharks' defense has allowed 71.74 total shot attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league.

They are also on the second night of a back-to-back with travel, making this an ideal spot for Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers.

Panarin comes in with the seventh-most shots on goal in the league this season (184) -- or 4.0 per game. He's been held under this prop in four straight games but had hit the over in four of the five games prior to that.

Given his overall shot volume, this is a clear bounce-back spot for the Breadman.

Leon Draisaitl To Record 2+ Points (+118)

The Edmonton Oilers have a slate-high 4.13 implied goal total and simply cannot be stopped right now.

A 13-game winning streak for the Oilers has turned their season around in a hurry, and that should continue tonight versus the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets.

The matchup against the Blue Jackets couldn't be better since they are allowing a whopping 4.60 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks, which is the worst in the league.

This leads me to Leon Draisaitl, who skates on the second forward line and the first power-play unit for the Oilers. He comes in with 14 NHL points and 30 shots on goal over his last 10 games, including zeros across the board in his most recent outing.

No points or shots on goal in a game is unusual for Draisaitl, and this matchup is the perfect way to get the ball rolling again.
