Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

William Nylander

To Score a Goal (+155)

With a high-profile matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers, we should be in for plenty of scoring.

A 6.5 over/under with two strong offensive teams puts this game at the top of the list for options tonight and we'll turn to William Nylander for a goal.

First off, the +155 odds for a goal tonight are very interesting for a few reasons. He has 21 goals on the season while skating on the top line for the Maple Leafs, who are scoring the fifth-most (3.51) Goals per game. We also see the Maple Leafs coming in with the sixth-best (25.8%) power-play percentage, where Nylander also sees time.

However, Nylander has been held without a goal in five of his last six games, despite having a whopping 23 shots on goal in those five games.

Since the start of January, both teams are in the top seven of the league in Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. This should create a very open and offensive-friendly game environment, putting Nylander in a spot to find the back of the net.

Clayton Keller

Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-102)

A sneaky-good matchup puts Clayton Keller in a great spot versus the Calgary Flames.

Every team goes through ups-and-downs throughout the season and being able to capitalize on this is always the goal.

For the entire season, the Flames' defense is allowing 60.55 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 13th worst in the league. However, since the start of the calendar year, they have allowed 70.07 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 4th worst in the league.

They are in a slight downswing right now and it puts Keller in a great spot.

He is averaging 2.8 shots on goal per game this season and has at least three shots on goal in four of his last five games. The Flames' defense might improve as the year goes on, but they are worth attacking right now.

Oliver Bjorkstrand

Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-104)

A surging Seattle Kraken lineup brings plenty of value in the prop market.

As winners of nine of their last 10 games, the Kraken are one of the hottest teams in the NHL and offer several options when it comes to player props.

This leads me to Oliver Bjorkstrand, who is averaging 2.7 shots on goal per game this season and has crossed this mark in four of his last five games.

Going up against the New York Rangers doesn't seem like the best matchup on paper, but they've hit a snag with their defense. Since the start of January, the Rangers are allowing the second-most (3.33) Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

Bjorkstrand leads the Kraken in shots this season and with a struggling defense on the other side, he should look to pile up the chances tonight.
