Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Marco Rossi To Score a Goal (+230)

The Minnesota Wild have a massive 3.95 implied goal total tonight at home to take on the lowly Anaheim Ducks.

With the Wild fighting for every point they can get in the Western Conference Wild Card race, a matchup against a bad defensive team such as the Ducks is one they love to see on the schedule.

Since the start of March, the Ducks have allowed 3.10 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh-worst in the league, along with the ninth-most (61.94) Total Shot Attempts Allowed.

They're a bad defense top to bottom and present plenty of upside for opposing offenses. Tonight, we'll turn to Marco Rossi, who may not be a household name but has a solid role and odds worth targeting.

Rossi skates on the second forward line and the second power-play unit for the Wild, which has enabled him to rack up a strong 29 shots on goal over his last 10 games. However, he doesn't have a single goal over this 10-game stretch.

He's shooting the puck at a high volume, and plays a good offensive role, but just hasn't been able to find the back of the net. With a bad defense on the other side, this is the ideal matchup for Rossi to finally put one through.

Jack Eichel Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-114)

On the road, the Vegas Golden Knights should look to pile up the chances against the faltering Calgary Flames.

The second half of the season hasn't been too kind to the Flames and since the start of March, own one of the league's worst defenses.

They sit in the bottom three of the league for Total Shot Attempts Allowed (68.91) and Goals Allowed (4.85), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. A combination of trades and injuries has made this one of the worst defensive units in the league.

This leads me to Jack Eichel, who recently returned from an injury four games ago, and has 18 shots on goal in that time. He picked up right where he left off as he's averaging 4.1 shots on goal, while centering the top forward line and the top power-play unit.

There should be no slowing down for Eichel and Vegas, as they need every point they can to secure their playoff odds.

Sidney Crosby Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+108)

While the Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled on offense, this matchup against the San Jose Sharks is too good to pass up.

Since the start of March, the Penguins' offense has scored a paltry 1.23 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league. Over that same time, the Sharks have allowed the eighth-most (3.05) Goals and the fifth-most (66.65) Total Shot Attempts Allowed, making this one of the more interesting matchups of the night.

For lack of a better term: when a stoppable force meets a moveable object.

That's what we have tonight and it points me to Sidney Crosby. While their offense has been bad overall, Crosby is still doing his thing with 36 shots on goal over his last 10 games, putting him right in line with his season average of 3.56 shots on goal per game.

The goal-scoring has slowed down for the Penguins but Crosby is still piling up the chances, something he should be able to continue versus San Jose.
