Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Brady Tkachuk

To Score a Goal (+140)

The Ottawa Senators have a good offense and a matchup worth targeting tonight versus the St. Louis Blues.

A 3.25 implied goal total for the Senators is a good spot to start against a Blues' defense that has really been struggling in recent games. Over the last two weeks, the Blues are allowing 3.38 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fourth-worst in the league.

During this same time, the Blues are allowing the sixth-most (13.32) High-Danger Scoring Chances, putting Brady Tkachuk in an elite matchup. Just as I explained yesterday with Valeri Nichushkin, high-danger chances are the ones that come close to the net.

This season, Tkachuk has 20 High Danger Unblocked Shot Attempts, which leads the Senators by 12. This shouldn't be a surprise since Tkachuk is a high-volume shooter, averaging 4.6 shots on goal per game.

He's been held without a goal over his last three games despite having 16 shots on goal. What better way to break a goalless streak than in the city you grew up in?

William Nylander

To Score a Goal (+115)

A whopping 3.87 implied goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs make them a clear target for offense tonight.

A matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets is about as lopsided as you can imagine for these two teams. The Leafs are great on offense and the Blue Jackets are bad on defense.

Over the last two weeks, the Leafs are scoring 2.99 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-best in the league. Over the two weeks, the Blue Jackets are allowing 2.87 Goals in the same situations, which is the eighth-worst in the league.

This should put William Nylander at the top of our list tonight, who is due for a goal. Over his last nine games, Nylander has a single goal yet a very strong 33 shots on goal. On the season, he comes in with 13 goals in 26 games, showing a bit of a slowdown in recent outings.

Despite not actually scoring, he's still firing the puck a ton while skating on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. The Leafs are in the top 10 of the league for power-play percentage and should be able to convert against the Blue Jackets tonight.

Kirill Kaprizov

To Score a Goal (+130)

The Minnesota Wild are trending up and will look to keep that going versus the Calgary Flames tonight.

After a horrible start to the season, the Wild fired their head coach and have won five of their seven games since then. Over those seven games, the Wild are scoring 3.03 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-best in the league.

They now take on the Flames, who have been dreadful on defense during that same stretch, allowing the third-most (3.19) Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

This leads me to Kirill Kaprizov, who is also off to a slow start in terms of goals. The entire team was struggling and so was Kaprizov, but I remain optimistic considering he posted at least 40 goals in each of the last two seasons.

His role on the first forward line and the first power-play remain unchanged, and he continues to be a solid shooter, averaging 3.2 shots on goal per game. It's a great matchup and he's got plenty of skill to find the back of the net.
