Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Dylan Cozens

To Score a Goal (+280)

The Buffalo Sabres have a 3.36 implied goal total and are in a spot to get the offense going versus the Ottawa Senators.

Over the last two weeks, the Senators have allowed a whopping 3.83 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the NHL. They continue to be a mess on defense, and the goals are coming early and often for opposing teams.

This puts several players in a favorable matchup to score and I like Dylan Cozens for a goal. Over his last 10 games, Cozens has just a single goal but has a very solid 28 shots on goal. This has been a theme for him this season, where he has just six goals.

However, if we dig into his Expected Goals Scored (xGF), he is up at 12.5, which is the second-highest for the Sabres this season. That is because Cozens has the second-most (16) High-Danger Unblocked Shot Attempts for the Sabres.

If we circle back to the Senators' defense in the last two weeks, they are allowing the third-most (14.09) High-Danger Scoring Chances, and the second-most (2.01) High-Danger Goals, both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

Cozens is doing all the right things on the ice, he just isn't getting pucks to the back of the net. The Senators struggle at the exact thing he is great at and it puts him in an awesome matchup to score.

Nikolaj Ehlers

Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-102)

The Winnipeg Jets are an absolute wagon right now and can be trusted each and every night.

A seven-game winning streak and points in 13 straight games is unbelievable for the Jets, who can certainly continue that trend tonight versus the Chicago Blackhawks.

Over the last two weeks, the Blackhawks have allowed the eighth-most (65.73) Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. They are a mess on defense and with the Jets' offense cruising along right now, this should be a one-sided matchup.

We'll turn to Nikolaj Ehlers, who has been over this 3.5 mark in seven of his last 10 games, and is coming off a game where he had no shots on goal.

Given his role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, Ehlers is in a clear bounce-back spot to fire the puck and pile up the shots.

Zach Hyman

Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-106)

A big 7.5 over/under between the Edmonton Oilers and the Detroit Red Wings should lead to plenty of scoring chances.

The Oilers are another team on fire right now and have plenty of offensive power to outscore any team.

When we look at this matchup versus the Red Wings, we should see an open and free-flowing game. Lots of speed and lots of scoring chances, so it leads me to Zach Hyman of the Oilers.

Hyman actually leads the Oilers with 135 shots on goal this season, not Connor McDavid, not Leon Draisaitl. It's Hyman leading the way while averaging 3.75 shots on goal.

He comes in with at least four shots in five of his last 10 games -- including two up at seven and eight shots -- and is also coming off a game with no shots on goal.

Another player primed for a rebound game with a great matchup to do so.
