NHL Prop Bets
Jack Hughes To Score a Goal (+150)
The New Jersey Devils have a 3.46 implied goal total tonight as they play host to the Seattle Kraken.
Hughes is back in the Devils' lineup after missing about a month and he's barely missed a beat. In the two games since he's returned, he has a very solid 11 shots on goal, but no goals to show for it.
He reclaimed his role on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, putting him in a great spot to score on a nightly basis.
Over the last two weeks, we've seen the Devils' defense struggle, by allowing the third-most (3.11) Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. This often puts them in high-scoring, high-event games, which are conducive for offensive chances.
This often requires the Devils' offense to ramp up their offensive pressure to keep up with the opponents scoring. That is the ideal situation to have Hughes -- a high-volume shooter -- as they need to keep their foot on the gas.
Owen Tippett To Score a Goal (+180)
With a super soft matchup against the Arizona Coyotes, the Philadelphia Flyers could pile up the goals tonight.
Over the last two weeks, the Coyotes have allowed a staggering 3.83 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league. Not only is it the worst in the league, it's over 0.50 worse than the next team.
They are struggling in a big way right now and it puts Owen Tippett in a great spot to score. Over his last 10 games, Tippett has 39 shots on goal, which is absolutely elite, but the goals haven't been that consistent.
Over his last four games, Tippett has no goals but maintains a strong shot volume while seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit.
He leads the Flyers with 178 shots on goal this season and is in the midst of a goal drought. Given the soft matchup and his underlying offensive tendencies, he's well worth a look for a goal tonight.
Joel Eriksson Ek Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+130)
The Minnesota Wildhave an interesting matchup versus the Vegas Golden Knights, which presents a bit of value.
At first glance, the Golden Knights as -146 home favorites seem like they are a far superior team. Just looking at the standings and you'll see Vegas with 68 points and the Wild with 51 points.
However, that doesn't tell the full story since the Golden Knights are dealing with a significant amount of injuries right now. This has left their lineup a bit thin overall and it's translated into some underlying metrics.
Over the last two weeks, Vegas has allowed 68.41 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the league. That's not something you would expect from the defending Stanley Cup Champions but it's how things sit right now.
This leads me to Joel Eriksson Ek, who is averaging 3.7 shots on goal per game this season and comes in with 34 shots on goal over his last 10 games. He's coming off a game with just a single shot on goal and given his role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, this is a sneaky great matchup for him to bounce back
