3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Monday 10/30/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Evgeni Malkin To Score a Goal (+175)

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a 3.86 implied goal total and are ready for a big offensive night against the Anaheim Ducks.

To start the season, the Penguins have been one of the best offensive teams in the league scoring 3.08 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh-highest. They also come in with a big 69.20 Corsi For (Total Shots Attempts Created) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-highest in the league.

They are pushing the pace on offense early and often and it's leading to plenty of goals this season. We'll turn to Evgeni Malkin, who is the center on the second forward line and the first power-play unit.

He comes in with 25 shots on goal, 5 assists, and 4 goals in his first eight games. Malkin also hasn't scored in his last three outings but maintains this strong offensive role.

The Penguins are up against the Ducks, who are allowing just 1.77 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. However, if we look at their Expected Goals Against (xGA), they are up at 2.53, signaling they are due for some regression on defense. This is due to the fact they have the eighth-worst (63.66) Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) this season.

A team giving up a high volume of shot attempts but so few goals isn't going to sustain that rate for long. The Penguins are primed for some offense tonight.

Clayton Keller To Record 4+ Shots on Goal (+136)

The Arizona Coyotes have a favorable matchup versus the Chicago Blackhawks and that leads us to Clayton Keller.

While the Coyotes have historically been known as a basement dweller in the standings, I firmly believe they are going to be a better team this year compared to last, and offer some consistency in the prop market.

Their best player is Clayton Keller and the one to trust for some shots on goal. He comes in with 25 shots through seven games and has recorded 4+ shots on goal three times this season.

He should be able to replicate that level of production since the Blackhawks come in with a 68.01 Corsi Against, which is the third-worst in the league. With Keller seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, he will have plenty of chances to fire the puck against a weak defense.

Roope Hintz To Score a Goal (+140)

In what could be the most lopsided matchup on the slate, the Dallas Stars are hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Stars come in as big -275 moneyline favorites tonight and it's a good indication they should be in control of this game. These two teams are at the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to Corsi For (Total Shots Attempts Created) and Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed).

The Stars have the seventh-best (63.52) Corsi For and the Blue Jackets have the fifth-worst (67.48) Corsi Against. This should lead to a very open game for the Stars' offense, who have a 3.96 implied goal total tonight.

Roope Hintz is the center on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, coming in with 18 shots on goal, 2 assists, and 2 goals in his five games this season. As usual, I like to target high-volume shooters who have scored recently, and that's Hintz with nine shots in his last two games but no goals.

It's a great matchup for him to find the back of the net.
