3 NBA Player Prop Bets for Thursday 2/22/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Using FanDuel Research's daily basketball projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some NBA player prop bets that look appealing via the NBA odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NBA Prop Bets

Caris LeVert Over 13.5 Pts + Ast (-111)

The NBA is back from the All-Star break with a fresh 12-game slate, and I don't think there is a more valuable play today than Caris LeVert's combined points and assists (PA) prop.

On the season, LeVert is averaging 18.8 PA.

The -111 odds for this prop suggest a 52.6% probability, but LeVert is actually clearing 13.5 PA at a towering 74.4% clip this season (32 of his 43 games).

And it's not as if he's been slumping, either. In 2024, LeVert has exceeded 13.5 PA in 15 of his 19 games (78.9% rate).

He and the Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Orlando Magic, which is set to be a low-scoring game (217.0 over/under). However, this should hardly concern us, as Cleveland's 112.5 implied team total for tonight isn't far off from their 114.9 points per game average this season.

Orlando comes in with a great defense, owning the fifth-best defensive rating in the NBA, but their bench unit has struggled. This offers LeVert, a Sixth Man of the Year candidate, a solid opportunity to shine.

The Magic surrender the fourth-most paint points to opposing guards who come off the bench while LeVert is netting 42.9% of his points in the paint.

Orlando's All-Star, Paolo Banchero (illness), is questionable for tonight's game, and his absence would certainly hurt their defense.

Donovan Mitchell (illness) also comes into this one with a questionable designation, though he was present at Cleveland's morning shootaround.

I'm quite bullish on LeVert's PA prop, regardless of Mitchell's status, but it doesn't hurt to know that he is averaging 24.0 PA in six Mitchell-less games this season.

Josh Hart Over 8.5 Rebounds (+110)

When it comes to Josh Hart's rebounding prop, the market has been too kind to us.

The New York Knicks have been dealing with some big injuries, namely Julius Randle and OG Anunoby. Both of these starters remain out for tonight's contest against the Philadelphia 76ers, and it's hard to not be encouraged by what Hart has done in their absence.

Randle has now missed nine straight games for New York. In this span, Hart is averaging 9.9 rebounds each night and has exceeded 8.5 rebounds in all but one game. In fact, he has actually grabbed 10 or more boards in eight of these nine contests.

The one game in which Hart failed to clear 8.5 rebounds came against the Magic, a team that lets up the third-fewest rebounds per game.

Luckily for us, the Sixers do not pose as a difficult matchup.

On the season, Philly is allowing opposing teams to grab the 13th-most rebounds per game. But with Joel Embiid (knee) now out, they've become even weaker on the boards.

Embiid has missed the last eight games for the Sixers. In this split, the team has surrendered the fourth-most rebounds to opposing guards.

These teams have met up once this season. Despite both Randle and Embiid participating in this game, Hart managed to grab a whopping 15 rebounds.

I'd consider laddering Hart's rebound prop. You can get Josh Hart To Record 10+ Rebounds at +160.

Kelly Oubre Over 14.5 Points (-113)

Let's stick with the same game here and continue to take advantage of Embiid's absence.

Kelly Oubre is averaging 14.0 points per game this season, but he's granted a higher-than-normal shot volume when Philly's, and the league's for that matter, top-scorer is out.

As mentioned, Embiid has missed eight straight games for Philadelphia. In this span, Oubre is averaging 17.4 points per night.

Further, Oubre has eclipsed 14.5 points in 9 of his last 11 games.

The Knicks don't present as the smoothest of matchups, but the game environment in this one could be quite intriguing.

The over/under is set at 228.5 points, while the spread has Philadelphia favored by just 1.0 point. Prior to the All-Star break, Oubre was already seeing an increase in minutes, and a close and competitive game should keep the starters on the floor for the long run tonight.

As a starter, Oubre is averaging 30.7 minutes per game, and I'd be surprised if this matchup doesn't constitute a 30-plus-minute night for him.

Oubre has seen at least 30 minutes of court time in 17 games this season. He surpassed 14.5 points in all but two of these games, including one against the Knicks this past month.
