3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on Tuesday 6/18/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some MLB player props bets that look appealing via the MLB odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

MLB Player Props

Royce Lewis to Record 2+ Total Bases (-115)

At the rate he's going, Royce Lewis may never slow down at the plate. Until he does, I'm running with his props -- this time to Record 2+ Total Bases (-115).

The third baseman has played a total of 12 games this season. In those 12 outings, he's hit 7 home runs, drove in 11 RBIs, and has registered 39 total bases. To take it a step further, he's simply smashing the ball all over the yard with a .390 batting average, .569 wOBA, .561 ISO, and an 1.398 OPS. Those are absurd, out-of-this-world numbers for Lewis -- and the Minnesota Twins have become an offensive force because of it.

The stat that jumps out the most is that he's recorded two-plus total bases in 9 of his 12 games this season. He's also done it in his last four appearances. With how good the matchup is tonight, I like him to make it five straight.

Minnesota will be taking on the Tampa Bay Rays in tonight's contest, who are starting Aaron Civale.

Civale hasn't had the success he did a season ago, posting a 5.20 ERA and 4.61 FIP through his first 14 starts. He also has coughed up 1.73 HR/9, having allowed 14 total thus far. It shouldn't be a surprise that this has resulted in the highest flyball rate of his career, coming into tonight at 41.2%.

Lewis is matchup-proof at this stage, but it doesn't hurt to have a struggling pitcher on the bump to all make his chances of slugging all the better.

Marcell Ozuna to Record an RBI (+110)

Racing to the top of the RBI leader list has been all Marcell Ozuna this season, but he now finds himself in second behind Aaron Judge. I like him to bring it closer tonight, taking him to Record an RBI (+110) against the Detroit Tigers.

The Atlanta Braves have a strong 4.94 implied total of the night, per numberFire's heat map. That spells trouble for Tigers' starter Casey Mize.

The former first-overall pick hasn't had much success this season on the mound. He's put together a 4.43 ERA to go along with a similar 4.50 SIERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 4.24 expected FIP (xFIP).

Atlanta's offense should have their way tonight, and it'll be Ozuna again leading the way in that effort.

Ozuna has continued to be the best hitter in the Braves' lineup this season. The designated hitter ranks highly in the majors, placing third in wOBA (.427), second in slugging (.611), fourth in ISO (.290), third in home runs (20), and fourth in batting average (.321). Add in his second-place 62 RBIs to highlight how great of a season it's been.

Ozuna's ability to drive in runs from the three-spot in the Atlanta lineup is why we're riding with him tonight. He's in too good of a spot with a matchup that only makes him better.

Will Smith to Record +3 Total Bases (+135)

There are few better matchups in baseball than Will Smith against lefties. Just add in the fact that it's Smith against lefties...at Coors Field. He should have a big night coming his way, so take him to Record 3+ Total Bases (+135).

Smith and the Los Angeles Dodgers will face off against Austin Gomber and the Colorado Rockies. numberFire's heat map has the Dodgers with the highest implied total of the day at 6.23 runs.

Gomber is entering tonight full of problems on the mound. His 4.63 SIERA and 4.26 ERA show it hasn't been an easy season. In his last start, he allowed 8 runs on 11 hits through just 3.0 innings. Over his last three starts combined, the southpaw has allowed 22 hits and 15 runs. The Dodgers shouldn't have a problem scoring in this one.

That brings us to Smith, a hitter who thrives against lefties as much as any hitter in baseball. So far this season, the catcher has had 74 plate appearances against southpaws and is hitting .381 against them.

Smith has 8 doubles, 4 home runs, and a .478 wOBA, too. The rest of his stat line includes a .317 ISO, 217 wRC+, and 1.158 OPS. When a hitter has this much success against left-handed pitching, you have to run with them when they get the chance.

In a gifted Dodgers lineup, Smith is the slugger you'll want tonight.
