3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on Monday 7/1/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some MLB player props bets that look appealing via the MLB odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

MLB Player Props

MacKenzie Gore Under 16.5 Outs Recorded (+112)

The line for MacKenzie Gore's recorded outs of 16.5 is leaning toward the over with -146 odds. The New York Mets could be a more difficult challenge for Gore than most are expecting. Here's why under 16.5 outs (+112) is the side to take.

First off, the Mets have solid run production with the 10th-most runs scored on the season. The recent production has also been present with New York totaling 7.8 runs over their previous five contests.

Meanwhile, Gore went past five innings of pitching in only one of five starts in June. Of course, recording over 16.5 outs would require reaching the sixth. The concerns only grow when you dive into Gore's pitch usage.

The Washington Nationals' pitcher leans on four-seam fastballs (54.5%), curveballs (20.7%), and sliders (14.5%), per his Savant page. The Mets hit well against each pitch, carrying the 6th-most runs above average against fastballs, the 5th-most against curveballs, and the 13th-most when facing sliders.

New York also rakes against left-handed pitchers. They have a .250 batting average (10th-highest) that rises to .265 versus southpaws (6th-highest).

The proof is in the pudding; give me Gore to go under 16.5 recorded outs.

Brandon Nimmo to Record 2+ Total Bases (+115)

Considering the Mets' potential success against Gore, it would be wise to back one of the Mets' batters. Look no further than Brandon Nimmo.

New York's outfielder has went on a tear over his previous two outings, racking up four hits in nine at-bats (.444). He's easily reached the two-base mark in each game, hitting a double in back-to-back games. Nimmo also launched a home run in his most recent contest.

He has decent success against MacKenzie Gore with 3 hits over 11 career at-bats -- one of which was a double. Nimmo has also recorded his most hits when facing four-seam fastballs and sliders, and these are two of Gore's three most-used pitchers.

Nimmo has reached at least two bases in four of his last six games. This includes three dingers over the six-game stretch. Along with reaching two bases, Nimmo to hit a double (+330) or a home run (+700) could be worth a bet. He's been racking up doubles and big flies in recent games, and Nimmo has logged a double in a past head-to-head meeting with Gore.

Jackson Chourio to Record an RBI (-105)

The Milwaukee Brewers went from recording the 14th-fewest runs in 2023 to currently holding the 7th-most runs scored this season. Calling up one of baseball's most talented prospects -- Jackson Chourio -- has certainly helped this cause.

When Chourio made his MLB debut on March 29th, he was the Brew Crew's top prospect and MLB's second-best. His numbers have been decent thus far with a .243 batting average and .296 weighted on-base percentage (wOBA).

Milwaukee has not been afraid to put Chourio in the middle of the batting order when they face left-handed pitchers. This should be the case tonight with the Brewers facing the Colorado Rockies' Austin Gomber. Chourio has been hitting fifth when Milwaukee faces lefties, and he's recorded six RBIs over his last five games.

With Chourio's ribby production up while hitting in a favorable spot in the batting order, his RBI prop should yield success tonight.
