MLB Prop Bets to Target
Adam Duvall to Hit a Home Run (+350)
The Boston Red Sox have a juicy matchup for some homers tonight, and it puts them at the top of the list for offense.
The Sox are on the road to take on the Kansas City Royals, who will have Jordan Lyles on the bump. To put things simply: Lyles is not a good pitcher and allows far too many home runs this season. Over just his last five starts, Lyles has allowed 11 total homers. Yikes.
Overall on the season, Lyles is giving up a .342 wOBA, .509 SLG, 5.38 xFIP, 2.04 HR/9, 50.4% fly-ball rate, and 13.8% HR/FB ratio versus right-handed hitters. Considering the warmer weather and a bit of wind blowing out to left tonight, there could be a few balls going over the fence.
We'll turn to Adam Duvall, who is en fuego at the plate. Over his last five games, he has four home runs and has hit seven balls with exit velocities over 100 MPH, according to BaseballSavant. He's hitting the seams off the ball right now, and we want to try and capture that tonight.
On the year, Duvall comes in with a 153 wRC+, .402 wOBA, .344 ISO, 55.4% fly-ball rate, and 32.3% hard-contact rate versus right-handed pitchers. It's a great spot for Duvall, so I'll add Duvall To Record an RBI (+105), too.
Jose Altuve To Record 2+ Total Bases (+110)
A simple prop and good odds are always a great place to start.
That is what we have with Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros, who will be up against Carlos Rodon. The Astros are rocking a 4.80 implied run, and with how their offense has looked lately, they could push past that in a hurry.
Rodon has struggled this season to the tune of a .345 wOBA, .461 SLG, 5.65 xFIP, 2.03 HR/9, 51.7% fly-ball rate, and 43.3% hard-contact rate against righties. Bringing that set of stats into a matchup against the Astros could end poorly for Rodon.
Altuve is rocking a 143 wRC+, .377 wOBA, .333 BABIP, .194 ISO, 15.7% strikeout rate, and 35.7% hard-contact rate versus lefties. Altuve isn't striking out a ton at the plate and is generally putting the ball in play. That's great to see when we need him to get at least two bases.
Gunnar Henderson To Record an RBI (+125)
The Baltimore Orioles have one of the best offenses in the league and are always a threat for plenty of runs.
A 4.84 implied run total is a good indication the scoring should come early and often for the Orioles, and an RBI prop is a great place to look.
Zach Davies will be on the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks, and he comes in surrendering a .356 wOBA, .445 SLG, 5.20 xFIP, .327 BABIP, 1.04 HR/9, and 34.2% hard-contact rate versus lefties this season.
This leads us to future AL Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson, who is sporting a 134 wRC+, .354 wOBA, .314 BABIP, .268 ISO, 45.9% hard-contact rate, and 36.7% fly-ball rate versus righties this season.
Henderson checks off every box we could possibly want and should have plenty of chances to knock in a run tonight.
