3 FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks for Monday 5/6/24

Stacking is an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. Correlation drives upside, giving your lineups a slate-winning ceiling when your stacks explode.

This piece will do the digging and the dirty work each day to determine which stacks are worth rostering on FanDuel's main slate. While we want upside, we also need to factor in game theory, especially in a sport as random as baseball.

The MLB DFS heat map at numberFire is a quick way to get a feel for the overall slate and which offenses are in a good spot. You can also check out our daily fantasy baseball projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- to identify the slate's best bats.

Let's look at the top stacks for today's main slate.

MLB DFS Stacks

Los Angeles Dodgers

Implied Total: 5.14 | Opposing Pitcher: Roddery Munoz

Roddery Munoz has been productive in his first two starts for the Miami Marlins, logging seven strikeouts in each start and giving up a combined three earned runs in 11 innings pitched. Despite his hot start on the mound, Munoz will face his stiffest test yet on Monday with the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting him.

Since the start of the 2023 season, the Dodgers have the ninth-lowest strikeout rate (21.5%), second-best ISO (.193), second-best wOBA (.346), and second-best wRC+ (120) versus right-handed pitching. The one major difference for Los Angeles is they now have Shohei Ohtani ($4,500), who is sporting the best ISO (.415), wOBA (.531), and wRC+ (251) among players with 50-plus plate appearances against right-handed pitchers to begin the year.

Ohtani has been raking recently, producing 15-plus FanDuel points in four of his last five contests. The two-way superstar has accrued three HRs, seven RBIs, six runs, and two stolen bases amid his current five-game hitting streak.

Besides Ohtani, Mookie Betts ($4,700), Freddie Freeman ($3,300), and Will Smith ($3,700) are the primary targets for Dodgers stacks. Teoscar Hernandez ($3,500) and Max Muncy ($3,600) shouldn't be ignored in the middle of the order while Andy Pages ($3,300) has tallied double-digit FanDuel points in eight of his first 17 appearances this season.

For those who need to save salary, Gavin Lux ($2,400) and James Outman ($2,500) are solid value options despite their woeful starts in 2024.

Kansas City Royals

Implied Total: 4.52 | Opposing Pitcher: Bryse Wilson

The Kansas City Royalsenter as my second-favorite team to stack on Monday's main slate ahead of a showdown against Bryse Wilson and the Milwaukee Brewers. Wilson began the year as a reliever for the Brewers, but he's made two consecutive starts in his last two appearances.

In those two starts, Wilson permitted a total of seven hits and three earned runs while striking out nine batters across 10.1 innings pitched. While he's excelled versus the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays, Wilson is giving up a career-worst 45.3% fly-ball rate, and his 7.8% barrel rate is in the 44th percentile among pitchers.

Aside from having the second-lowest strikeout rate to righties, the Royals are posting the seventh-best ISO (.161) and 11th-best wOBA (.315) in that split. Bobby Witt Jr. ($4,100) is understandably going to be the player we want to start most Kansas City stacks with.

Witt has registered 15-plus FanDuel points in 10 of his last 12 games despite not hitting a homer in that span. Even though Wilson performs worse against left-handed hitters, Maikel Garcia ($3,100) and Salvador Perez ($3,500) are worth targeting at the top of the Royals' lineup.

The left-handed bats we'll want to center our attention on are Vinnie Pasquantino ($2,800), Michael Massey ($2,700), and Kyle Isbel ($2,400). Massey has recorded 12-plus FanDuel points in four of his last five contests while Isbel is a valuable option in wraparound stacks.

There are potential weather concerns for Monday's Brewers-Royals matchup, so keep tabs on updates throughout the day.

Oakland Athletics

Implied Total: 3.73 | Opposing Pitcher: Andrew Heaney

We've seen starting pitchers who are facing the Oakland Athletics draw plenty of popularity in DFS, so there's a chance people take a swing on Andrew Heaney tonight. To gain leverage over those who use Heaney -- and stack the Texas Rangers -- the Athletics could be a sneaky team to stack on this main slate.

Besides being in the 41st percentile in whiff rate (24.2%) and 38th percentile in strikeout rate (20.8%), Heaney is giving up plenty of hard contact. The experienced southpaw is in the seventh percentile in average exit velocity (91.5 MPH), 26th percentile in barrel rate (9.2%), 15th percentile in hard-hit rate (46.0%), and is logging a career-worst 50.6% fly-ball rate.

On the other hand, the Athletics have quietly been formidable against left-handed pitchers to begin the year. Oakland is the ultimate boom-or-bust team on Monday's main slate with the second-best ISO (.203) and the 10th-highest strikeout rate (24.1%) versus southpaws.

At the top of the order for the Athletics, we'll want to target the likes of Esteury Ruiz ($3,000), Tyler Nevin ($2,700), Abraham Toro ($2,700), and Brent Rooker ($3,300). Make sure Ruiz is in the lineup before using him as he is dealing with a wrist injury, while Rooker has produced 18-plus FanDuel points in three consecutive outings.

The other bats who are intriguing in Oakland's batting order are Shea Langeliers ($2,800), J.D. Davis ($2,500), and Brett Harris ($2,000). Langeliers has the second-most HRs (7) and RBIs (16) on the Athletics this season.

With the Athletics scoring five-plus runs in four of their last seven games, stacking them could be valuable on a slate where we want to fit the high-salary bats of the Dodgers.
