3 FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks for Friday 5/3/24

Stacking is an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. Correlation drives upside, giving your lineups a slate-winning ceiling when your stacks explode.

This piece will do the digging and the dirty work each day to determine which stacks are worth rostering on FanDuel's main slate. While we want upside, we also need to factor in game theory, especially in a sport as random as baseball.

The MLB DFS heat map at numberFire is a quick way to get a feel for the overall slate and which offenses are in a good spot. You can also check out our daily fantasy baseball projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- to identify the slate's best bats.

Let's look at the top stacks for today's main slate.

MLB DFS Stacks

New York Yankees

Implied Total: 4.14 | Opposing Pitcher: Reese Olson

The New York Yankees don't have the most impressive implied team total tonight, but they do have a few things working in their favor.

The Yankees have been dangerous against right-handed pitchers this season. They have the third-highest wRC+ and fourth-highest ISO against righties so far.

They'll face Reese Olson of the Detroit Tigers tonight. Olson hasn't been terrible, but his 4.21 xFIP isn't terribly intimidating for the Yanks.

The main Yankee we want in our stack tonight is Juan Soto ($4,300). He has been great in his first season as Yankee, with a .452 xWOBA and a .258 ISO. Aaron Judge ($3,800) is off to a slow start this season, but we know he has the power upside we like. Giancarlo Stanton ($3,100) is also not off to the best start but still has a .223 ISO, which is second on the team.

The fourth piece of this stack could be any of Alex Verdugo ($2,900), Anthony Rizzo ($3,100) or Anthony Volpe ($3,200). Verdugo will bat fourth and has the lowest salary, holding a .368 wOBA and .203 ISO against righties this season. He's my favorite of the bunch.

Atlanta Braves

Implied Total: 4.66 | Opposing Pitcher: Gavin Stone

The Atlanta Braves were expected to be one of the best offenses in baseball headed into this season, and that has been true. They lead the league in runs scored per game, and have the third-highest team wOBA.

Against righties, they also have the third-highest wOBA to go with the fifth-best wRC+. They'll go up against a righty tonight who shouldn't scare them.

Gavin Stone is on the mound against the Braves. Stone gave up a lot of hard contact last season with an 8.7% barrel percentage. While he's cut back on that this season, his xFIP is still high at 4.75.

We obviously want to target the Braves' best hitters in our stack, like Ronald Acuna Jr. ($4,200) and Matt Olson ($3,700). They have some of the most power upside in baseball. The perhaps not obvious player to target in this stack is Marcell Ozuna ($4,300). He's normally better with the platoon advantage, but he has roughed up righties this season to the tune of .329 ISO and a .428 wOBA.

Don't forget Ozzie Albies ($3,900) in your stack; his 156 wRC+ is the second best on the team against righties.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Implied Total: 4.84 | Opposing Pitcher: Charlie Morton

Opposite of the Braves, we have the Los Angeles Dodgers in a matchup between two of the best teams in the National League. We should see runs on both sides tonight.

The Dodgers' loaded lineup has delivered to start the season. They have the highest team wOBA, highest wRC+ and second-highest ISO.

Several Dodgers' hitters have destroyed right-handed pitching this season. That includes Shohei Ohtani ($4,400), who has a whopping .413 ISO against righties this season. Mookie Betts ($4,800) doesn't have the platoon advantage but still has a 220 wRC+ against righties.

Two Dodgers with the platoon advantage that have nice salaries for their talent are Freddie Freeman ($3,400) and Max Muncy ($3,400). Freeman's overall numbers are down, but against righties, he has a .457 wOBA. Muncy also has a very nice .246 ISO against righties, so he's definitely in play for this stack.

The matchup isn't the best for the Dodgers against Charlie Morton, who doesn't allow a ton of flyballs or hard contact. I still would target the Dodgers; the struggling Miami Marlins and New York Mets offenses were still able to tag the veteran for at least four earned runs apiece.
