3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for Wednesday 9/6/23

Stacking is an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. Correlation drives upside, giving your lineups a slate-winning ceiling when your stacks explode.

This piece will do the digging and the dirty work each day to determine which stacks are worth rostering on FanDuel's main slate. While we want upside, we also need to factor in game theory, especially in a sport as random as baseball.

The MLB DFS heat map at numberFire is a quick way to get a feel for the overall slate and which offenses are in a good spot. You can also check out numberFire's daily fantasy baseball projections to identify the slate's best bats.

Let's look at the top stacks for today's main slate.

Atlanta Braves

Implied Total: 5.53 | Opposing Pitcher: Dakota Hudson (RHP)

As we've seen for much of the season, the Atlanta Braves are worth talking about when it comes to stacking their lineup today.

The Braves enter the day with the best implied total of any team (5.53). They'll be taking on the St. Louis Cardinals and their starter Dakota Hudson.

Hudson has been better than most pitchers that we feature on this list, but that's not to say he's been perfect by any stretch. He's currently sporting a 4.02 ERA that is hiding a 5.08 SIERA, which should paint a good picture of how well he's really doing. In terms of striking batters out, he really isn't. Hudson has a 13.9% strikeout rate, so the Bravos should make plenty of contact today.

The boring option to lead off a Braves stack is, of course, Ronald Acuna ($5,000). The National League MVP favorite (-195, per the MLB player award odds at FanDuel Sportsbook) has had the best season of his career. Over his last five games, he had three straight home runs to start before going 0-for in his most recent two outings. That means he's due at this stage. What's he due for? Well, with 67 extra-base hits on the season (32 home runs included) and 63 stolen bases, he's due to make a splash.

After a slow start to the season, Austin Riley ($3,900) returned to being an elite option and is coming off a home run game from yesterday. He has 33 total to go along with a solid .231 ISO and .354 wOBA on the campaign. The stud is a key part of the Braves lineup; it should be on display today.

Finish out the rest of a Braves stack with Matt Olson ($4,100), Marcell Ozuna ($3,800), Ozzie Albies ($3,700), Sean Murphy ($3,500), Eddie Rosario ($2,900), or Michael Harris II ($2,900).

New York Mets

Implied Total: 5.42 | Opposing Pitcher: Joan Adon (RHP)

The New York Mets haven't had the season they expected, but they still have an offense that can do damage in the right situations.

The right situation seems to be hitting today as they'll take on the Washington Nationals hurler Joan Adon.

Adon hasn't been all too good this season -- something that can be said for a lot of what the Nationals bring to the table. He's got an eye-opening 5.90 ERA that is actually much higher than his SIERA (4.60), which means he's been a tad unlucky but ultimately not too dangerous. In his last start, he allowed five earned runs in five innings. Let's look for him to do that again.

The Mets are powered by the big bat of Pete Alonso ($4,000). He's the hitter you want to lead off a Mets stack with. Alonso has had a really strong go of it; his 42 home runs are the most he's had since his rookie year in 2019. He's also added 102 RBIs. It's been a season of success for him in a year of failure for New York. numberFire's model has him projected for 14.2 FanDuel points -- the most of any Met.

Brandon Nimmo ($3,100) is projected for 14.0 FanDuel points by numberFire. His career-high in home runs (22) continues to make him a more viable power threat than in previous seasons.

Francisco Lindor ($3,700), Jeff McNeil ($2,900), D.J. Stewart ($2,600), and Dan Vogelbach ($2,300) all are interesting options, as well.

Washington Nationals

Implied Total: 5.08 | Opposing Pitcher: Jose Butto (RHP)

While lovng the New York Mets' offense, the Washington Nationals have a big chance to attack offensively in this one too.

The Nats will take on starter Jose Butto. Butto has a very small sample size in the majors as he's only pitched in 14 2/3 innings while only making two starts. Still, the 4.30 ERA shows he's doing a lot better on the field than the underlying numbers would insist. He has a hideous 6.98 SIERA and 5.65 FIP behind it.

The Nationals' lineup should be able to feast on the matchup. They have the third-best implied total of the day at a 5.08, so the bats should have their chances to put up some big numbers throughout the evening.

Washington hasn't had a ton of bright spots in the lineup this year, but Lane Thomas ($3,500) has been one of them. He was unable to play yesterday due to a back issue, so be wary. If he does, he's the guy you want leading off any Nats stack. The outfielder is having a career-best season with a .199 ISO and .349 wOBA to pair with his 23 long balls and 74 RBIs.

Thomas is projected for 12.4 FanDuel points, per numberFire's model.

A mixture of C.J. Abrams ($3,100), Joey Meneses ($2,700), and Keibert Ruiz ($2,600) could also work for the Nats tonight, and they're an incredibly low-salaried stack to jam in an ace.
