Verdict

PICCOLINO (4) was placed at this track two runs back, and he can be forgiven for his latest eighth, over 1m at Otaki, when getting back from a wide gate. He drops down in class and is nicely placed to have a say in the outcome of this race. Stick with him. PLAIN SAILING (1) resumed in style with a dominant maiden win over 7f at Waipukurau 18 days ago over 7f. The extra furlong is ideal, and he has the scope to take the next step immediately. UNCLE KEN (2) showed little early dash and struggled last start when finishing well down the track over 1m at Otaki, but he did have a genuine excuse after suffering from a cardiac arrhythmia. He is well worth another chance. KEEPING TIME (3) has not threatened in his past couple, the latest a seventh over 6 ½f at this track nearly 4 weeks ago. Stepping back up to a mile will suit her, and she can figure in the top 4 this time. THE ESPY (7) will be trying a mile for the first time, and he is more than capable of a top 3 finish.
