SIGHT TO SEE (6) had put together a couple of strong efforts at Trentham and then found her preferred heavy track here nearly a month ago, scoring comfortably by a length. She was a game third here on Saturday, and she is the one to beat again. MAMAEA (11) is another toff in the wet, and was a game fourth with a slipped saddle here on Saturday. She gets a nice draw, and though she will be racing out of her grade, she still has solid each-way claims. CAFFEINATED (9) made the front early on at Wingatui last start and kept up a strong gallop to score by well over a length. That may be the tactic to use again to get the best out of this mare, and she may take some catching. PRINCE ALBY (2) has been out of form, but has also not had much luck. He needs a heavy track, and if he is in the right mood, he would be too good for this field. PROSERVE (3) was thereabouts on the first day here, and he is another who, on his day, would be very hard to hold out. Stick with him.

Pari-Mutuel

A pool style wagering system, where all money input through betting is divided among those with winning tickets (save for various deductions by the track operators).

Allowance Race

A race with non-claiming conditions set by the racing secretary. They are meant to be a step down from stakes racing.

Claiming Race

A race in which horses are entered for a certain price, or claiming tag, which is also their sales price. An owner can claim any horse entered for the tag before the race begins, and owns them as soon as the gates open.
