AKENEHI (3) is a very capable mare who won at this level at Riccarton in her penultimate start over 1 ¼m, and then tried hard in a tougher field over 1m at Wingatui nearly 5 weeks ago. She prefers some cut in the ground, and back in this company, she is the one to beat. VILLASANTI (6) does not know how to run a bad race, and was too tough at Riccarton just over 6 weeks ago when scoring by a neck on a testing heavy track. He drops 7lbs and will run his usual honest race. O'RIORDAN (9) has been racing well enough this year and had a tough trip in a stronger field at Wingatui 18 days ago. She cops another wide draw, but at an easier level, she can bounce straight back into the money. TAVI ANN (11) had 3 starts in the spring, and will be making her South Island debut. This is her pet trip, and if she doesn't need the run, she can definitely win a race at this level.
