Competitive. RECONNAISSANCE (5) has been in the money at Scarpside his last two, with the latest over 7 ½f as a $2.9F. Built on his 1.5L defeat here three back, and he maps for the run of the race. Deserves his third win. HOYA DESTROYER (4) resumed further improved with a tough placing here and spiked his numbers again, beaten 1.4L over 7f at Ascot this grade. Jumped a $2.3 favourite in that, and is a live chance to make amends. ZORBRIST (3) finished hard beaten 1.2L in the same contest, also making further improvement. Holding that form, he'll be in the finish. PETER GUNN (6) couldn't have been more impressive, winning a Scarpside Maiden first-up. That suggested there will be more to come. FIFTH ESSENCE (1) will need a good ride from the 4lbs claimer, but will be around the mark on his placed effort this track/grade/trip a month ago.
