HALO'S FIRE (2) finished a game fourth in the G2 Levin Classic at Trentham just over 3 weeks ago, when racing greenly cost him a closer finish that day. If he puts it all together this time, then he is definitely the one to beat. PINKER (1) raced well on the West Coast after winning fresh up for Kevin Myers at Otaki just before Christmas. Stick with him despite the wide gate. SINGLE RED (12) was a beaten favourite on debut at Tauranga, finishing fourth, and then bolted home at Te Rapa 12 days ago, scoring by more than 3 lengths. She has a superior gate here, and the extra 1 ¼f is ideal. Go again, especially on a wet track. SONGWRITER (3) finished fifth fresh up over a mile here 18 days ago when needing the run. He is lightly tried for a 6-year-old gelding, and will improve quickly with more racing. Include in all top 4 combos.
