KOWHAI STAR (10) was successful last start by 5.5 metres at Rangiora over 1 ¼m after an encouraging minor placing the start before. Gets a soft run on the inside of the second line but may need luck at some point. Must raise the bar but another big run is on the cards. BETTOR OFF (5) scored at Wingatui three runs ago but has been unplaced in two subsequent runs, the latest when fifth over 1 ¼m at Rangiora, beaten 17 metres. Must raise the bar but she has the ability to test this field. FAREWELL SPIT (6) is a consistent performer with four top-three finishes on the trot. Only needs things to fall his way and the good recent form can convert to a well-deserved win. DESTINY'S DREAM (2) is worth another chance after a last-start seventh over 1 ?m at Cromwell a week-and-a-half ago.
