Verdict

PHILHARMONIC (6) knuckled down strongly to get within a nose of the winner over 6 ½f at Stawell on debut. Maps for the run of the race and presenting fitter he will be tough to beat. IRISH WAVE (4) lifted strongly but just failed to pick up the winner in the same contest. He was also fresh and should tighten right up following that outing. Expect another bold forward showing. BLUE ENSIGN (3) led and placed on the Pakenham synthetic over 7f at his only start last preparation. Needed the run at Seymour first up over that distance and we should see more from him with that under the belt. KOVU (1) is also second up with more to offer. He also draws awkwardly but keeps the handy 7lbs claim. MISS DELIGHTFUL (10) ran an improved race finding a place at Terang and can build on that.
