Za'Darius Smith Snubbed Packers During Pregame Coin Toss

Updated:

There's certainly no love lost between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. Already one of the best divisional rivalries in NFL football, the two sides are clashing on Sunday in a Week 17 clash with so much on the line. Green Bay needs a pair of victories in their final two contests in order to sneak into the playoffs and the Vikings are jockeying for the NFC's No. 1 seed.

Adding another wrinkle to the rivalry is edge rusher Za'Darius Smith. Smith flipped teams this offseason. The Pro Bowl EDGE left the Packers for Minnesota last March and has played a Pro Bowl season in 2022 with 10.0 sacks.

Smith wasn't a fan of his former teammates during pregame warmups, snubbing the Packers' captains during the coin toss.

Packers insider Rom Demovsky reported that Smith was one of four Vikings captains to participate in the pregame coin toss at Lambeau Field. Three of the Vikings' captain shook hands with Adrian Amos and Dallin Leavitt, who represented Green Bay's faction in the pregame routine.

Notably, Smith refused to shake hands with either member of Green Bay's roster.

It's a petty move from Smith, who spent two successful years with the Green and Gold before injuries derailed his 2021 campaign. Petty, and uncalled for.
