After a brief unexpected break thanks to weather in the New York area, the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians are back in action on Friday afternoon for Game 2 of the ALDS. The rain added a big wrinkle to the series' schedule, which will now play four games in four days and switch venues twice, should it move to five games.

Prior to this busy stretch, the rainout led to a two-day break between Games 1 and 2.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed his starting pitching plans for the rest of the series, and will use the added frontend rest to shorten his staff.

Staff ace and Game 1 starter Gerrit Cole would start a potential Game 4 on regular rest, per information from Yankees insider Pete Caldera.

Cole was close to dominant in Game 1. The five-time All-Star tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit, 1-run baseball and struck out 8 batters. Keep in mind, this is a Guardians team recorded the fewest offensive strikeouts across all 30 MLB teams.

Strikeouts are Cole's bread and butter. He notched a league-leading 257 punchouts during the regular season, the fourth consecutive full MLB season he's tallied 200 or more.

For now, the Yankees are -186 favorites to win Game 2 of the series, per live MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
