Yankees Get Massive Michael King Injury Update on Spring Training Report Day
New York Yankees pitchers and catchers officially report to Spring Training on Thursday, and there are a number of pressing questions around the current roster. Who is playing shortstop and who is playing left field top the list, but the Yankees are also eagerly awaiting updates on some of their injured bullpen arms.
There's no denying that key injuries to New York's bullpen caused the team to stumble down the stretch. Would they have lost to the Houston Astros if fully healthy? Probably, but maybe not an embarrassing sweep in the ALCS.
One of those key injuries was to Michael King, who emerged as a shutdown option in the 'pen during the first half of the regular season. Unfortunately, King went down with a fractured elbow in late July and missed the remainder of the year.
On Wednesday, New York received fantastic news on King's health in 2023.
Michael King Injury Update
According to King, he's back to "100 percent" and Yankees insider Erik Boland reports he will not be limited at all throughout the spring. King actually began throwing off of a mound about six weeks ago.
King was electric in 2022, logging a 2.29 ERA in 34 appearances and striking out an impressive 11.6 batters per nine innings.
