Prediction

Washington opened the 2023 WNBA season with a home victory over the New York Liberty back on May 19 but has since lost two straight games. Meanwhile, Chicago has taken care of business so far with impressive road wins over the Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury.

Momentum is always a good thing and the Sky have momentum on their side heading into their home opener. Defense has been the key to their success as they lead the league in opponent points per game (67.5) and rank second in opponent field goal percentage (37.0%). That is simply dominant.

Keep in mind that Chicago posted a 3-1 record against Washington last season, so I feel comfortable backing a home team upset. The Under is going to be the best bet given that the total has hit the Under in eight of the Sky's last nine games overall as well as in two of the Mystics' three games this season.

Prediction

Two teams that have gotten off to opposite starts meet head-to-head on Friday night. The Wings earned an exciting 85-78 win over the Atlanta Dream to begin the season on Saturday, while the Storm were on the wrong end of a blowout as they fell short in a 105-64 loss to the Las Vegas Aces.

It's worth pointing out that the Wings are 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 away games as well as 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against the Storm. Seattle is also just 1-5 ATS in its last six games inside Climate Pledge Arena. Those are hard trends to go against in this close matchup.

I'll back Dallas to secure a road victory, but I'll opt to take the Over on my best bet. The total has hit the Over in five of the Wings' last seven games as well as in 10 of the Storms' last 12 games overall. Root for points between two teams that both averaged at least 82.5 points per game in the 2022 season.
