Who is Participating in the Home Run Derby?

Here's who will participate in the 2022 MLB Home Run Derby:

Pete Alonso HR Derby Pitcher

Pete Alsono is back, looking to make history with his third consecutive HR derby crown. There's little surprise with Alonso's choice, Dave Jauss. Jauss threw to Alonso in the 2021 Derby and is regarded as one of the best batting practice pitchers in the industry. There was a slight hiccup considering Jauss now works for the Washington Nationals, but the two agreed to challenge the derby field back in spring training.

Ronald Acuña Jr. HR Derby Pitcher

Ronald Acuña Jr. is also no stranger to this event, participating back in 2019. Atlanta Braves coach Tomas Perez threw to Acuña Jr. back in '19 and will return as his designated pitcher this season.

Albert Pujols HR Derby Pitcher

Albert Pujols tagged St. Louis Cardinals bullpen catcher, a regular batting practice pitcher, Kleininger Teran as his "teammate" in the event.

Juan Soto HR Derby Pitcher

Juan Soto opted for a non-MLB coach to work as his HR Derby pitcher. Soto selected Jorge Mejia, who has worked with the slugger since he was 17 as a hitting coach in the offseason.

Kyle Schwarber HR Derby Pitcher

Former University of Miami player and offseason workout partner Mike Sanicola will throw to Kyle Schwarber in the HR Derby. Schwarber refers to Sanicola as "Money."

Julio Rodríguez HR Derby pitcher

Set to become one of the youngest HR derby participants in this event's history, Julio Rodríguez asked his personal batting practice pitcher, Franmy Peña, to pitch to him in the event.

Jose Ramirez HR Derby Pitcher

Jose Ramirez tasked Junior Betances, his longtime friend and a staff member for Cleveland's Double-A affiliate, to throw to him in the HR derby.

Corey Seager HR Derby Pitcher

Corey Seager's HR derby pitcher will be his dad, Jeff Seager. Jeff threw to his son during Corey's first time in the event, back in 2016.
