Who is Announcing the Preakness 2023? Full Breakdown of This Year's Broadcast Crew and Channel

The Preakness Stakes is here once again, and horse racing fans are gearing up for this year's event. The 148th Run for the Black-Eyed Susan is set to feature eight of the world's best horses in the second leg of the Triple Crown.

Before the event begins, many are curious about the broadcast for this year's race. With that in mind, here's everything you need to know about TV coverage of the 2023 Preakness.

Who is Announcing the Preakness 2023?

The Preakness will air on NBC once again in 2023. Mike Tirico returns as studio host and Larry Collmus will call the race, just like the pair did for the Kentucky Derby. They'll be joined by several of their NBC peers to cover the action on Friday and Saturday.

Tirico is a famed sportscaster who got his first big break as a SportsCenter anchor in the early 1990s. He landed at NBC in 2016, where he's gone on to host a number of big events, including the World Cup, Olympics, and Sunday Night Football.

Collmus, meanwhile, succeeded Tom Durkin as NBC's voice of the network's major horse racing coverage in 2010. Collmus has called a few Triple Crown wins during his time with NBC, and Kentucky Derby winner Mage will look to join that list with a win at Pilmico.

NBC Preakness Broadcast Schedule 2023

NBC's coverage of the 2023 Preakness will begin on Friday with 90 minutes of races beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET on Peacock.

On Saturday, CNBC and Peacock will begin showing the pre-races at 1 p.m. ET. Coverage then switches over to NBC at 4:30 p.m. ET ahead of the main event.

NBC is also offering a Spanish-language broadcast of the Preakness in 2023. Coverage will start at 6:30 p.m. ET on Universo. Viewers can also stream the event on TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo app.
