The United States men's soccer team will face the Netherlands on Saturday. Their game will be played at 10 a.m. ET on Dec. 3 and hosted at Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar. FOX is set to broadcast USA-Netherlands.

The U.S. needed to win on Tuesday in order to advance past the Group Stage, and Christian Pulisic's goal in the 38th minute gave USMNT a 1-0 lead that it never relinquished. Overall, USMNT finished with one win and two draws (4 points total) in the opening round, finishing second behind England (7 points total)

The Netherlands, meanwhile, was the first-place finisher in Group A. The Dutch secured 7 points in the Group Stage, earning two wins and drawing once.

How Does the Knockout Stage Work?

The rules for the Knockout Stage (or Round of 16) are simple. This, and all future stages, are single-elimination. That means a loss at any point would send a country home.

Teams will play a 90-minute match with 45-minute halves, plus any stoppage time. If things are tied after regulation, two 15-minute periods of extra time will be played to help determine a winner. If the score is still tied after that overtime period, then the match will go to a penalty shootout until a victor is decided.
