Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups 2022: Fantasy Football Players You Need to Add

Updated:

Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season was full of comebacks and high-scoring performances from unexpected teams. Now with a two-game sample size to consider, fantasy football managers can make better-informed decisions on their rosters and lineups.

If you need help sorting through the events of the weekend, The Duel has you covered. Here are the top waiver wire pickups heading into Week 3 of the 2022 season.

Week 3 Waiver Wire

Note: Only players rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! fantasy football leagues are eligible for this list.

5. Jahan Doston, WR, Washington Commanders (43% Rostered)

If Jahan Dotson is still on your league's waive-wire, he's a top priority add this week. The rookie wide receiver continues to show his nose for the endzone, scoring his third touchdown of the season in Week 2 and coverting a two-point try as well. While his 10 targets so far place him behind Terry McLaurin (12) and Curtis Samuel (20), it's clear Washington will continue to air the ball out after recording the third-highest team pass attempts per game over the first two contests. The presence of those two wideouts also means less attention on Dotson, which he's taken advantage of in the early going. Currently ranking as WR13 in PPR scoring, Dotson is making his case as a legitimate weekly starting option.

4. Darrel Williams (4%) / Eno Benjamin (11%)

James Conner was forced to leave Sunday's contest with an ankle injury, leaving both Darrel Williams and Eno Benjamin to fill the void. They each proved to be productive while splitting touches. Williams turned 8 carries into 59 yards and a touchdown, along with 2 receptions (on 3 targets) for 3 yards. Benjamin lagged behind in rushing attempts (8) and yards (31), but looked like the superior pass-catching option with 3 receptions (on 4 targets) for 20 yards. It doesn't sound like Conner's injury is serious, but it leaves his Week 3 status up in the air at the very least. Given his noted injury troubles throughout his career, both Benjamin and Williams are worthwhile adds given this offense's potential to put up a ton of points.

3. Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets (23%)

Garrett Wilson is another rookie receiver who showed out in Week 2. After seeing a healthy 8 targets last time out, that number ballooned to 14 on Sunday, and he took advantage of it by posting 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. Though two scores will be hard to replicate in any game, the pure volume is a great sign for Wilson's fantasy relevancy moving forward. His 22 combined targets lead the New York Jets' pass-catchers, while the next-closest wide receiver clocks in at just 14. It's obvious quarterback Joe Flacco has a connection with Wilson, and the two will have at least another pair of games together before Zach Wilson returns. The rookie potentially remaining the No. 1 option in an air attack that currently leads the league in passing attempts per game (52.0) makes him extremely attractive for fantasy.

2. Tyler Conklin, TE, New York Jets (3%)

Speaking of the Jets, tight end Tyler Conklin has quietly become a possible starting option at a position that's barren in 2022. Conklin has posted double-digit PPR points in back-to-back games to begin the year, and he's seeing the all-important volume to keep it going. Conklin's 16 targets over the first two contests ranked second only to Wilson, as the 6-foot-3 tight end has become a safety valve for Flacco when he's not airing it out deep down the field. Though Conklin benefited from fellow TE C.J. Uzomah being out in Week 2, the latter didn't even register a target in Week 1 during the 23 offensive snaps he played. The momentum is clearly in Conklin's favor, and he could be a viable weekly play if his involvement continues like this.

1. Noah Brown, WR, Dallas Cowboys (2%)

Noah Brown's performance over the first two weeks is hard to ignore. He posted 9 targets, 5 receptions and 68 yards in Week 1, and he followed that up by going off for 5 receptions, 91 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. He's produced despite facing respected secondaries in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals, which proves he's a real talent. The veteran has benefited from Michael Gallup's absence, and the latter's impending return could cut into his workload, but he's also shown a clear rapport with fill-in starter Cooper Rush. The recent injury to Dalton Schultz could also allow Brown to remain as a big part of the passing attack for the time being. Heading into a Week 3 matchup against the unintimdating New York Giants, Brown is in the FLEX/WR3 conversation given his upside.
