Week 3 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Jaguars vs Chargers

Week 3 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Jaguars vs Chargers

Updated:

The Jacksonville Jaguars are riding high after a blowout win and will look to keep that momentum going against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list the Jaguars as 7-point road underdogs, though, in a game that is will surely have fantasy football implications.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 3 AFC showdown.

Gerald Everett Fantasy

Start Gerald Everett, TE, Los Angeles Chargers: Another week of NFL action means another week of pointing out how well tight end Gerald Everett has played for the Los Angeles Chargers. He backed up his Week 1 performance (3 receptions, 54 yards, 1 touchdown) with another stellar outing in Week 2 (6 receptions, 71 yards). Everett now ranks as the TE4 in PPR-scoring fantasy football leagues and has a good chance at keeping that success going on Sunday. The Jaguars have shown a ton of improvement in their pass coverage, but they are still allowing 13.0 yards per reception to opposing TEs. Start Everett with confidence in Week 3.

James Robinson Fantasy

Start James Robinson, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: What looked to be a split backfield in Week 1 for Jacksonville turned into something completely different in Week 2. James Robinson played in 63% of the offensive snaps and logged a whopping 25 touches. Meanwhile, Travis Etienne played in 37% of the offensive snaps and logged only 12 touches. Robinson has taken over and has now scored 3 touchdowns on the year. The Jaguars' tendency to lean on the third-year pro in the red zone gives him a ton of upside against a Chargers' defense that has allowed an opposing RB to score a receiving touchdown twice this season. Robinson has legitimate RB2 upside moving forward.

Joshua Palmer Fantasy

Sit Joshua Palmer, WR, Los Angeles Chargers: Wide receiver Keenan Allen was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and head coach Brandon Staley said he was "moving well" as he looks to return from a hamstring injury. If Allen is active, Joshua Palmer returns to being an overshadowed part of the Charger's offense. A garbage time touchdown is the only thing that saved Palmer from posting under double-digit PPR fantasy points for the second week in a row. With quarterback Justin Herbert a bit banged up with a rib injury, the chargers could also opt to lean heavily on the rushing attack against Jacksonville. Trusting Palmer as a FLEX option comes with a ton of risk this week.

Trevor Lawrence Fantasy

Sit Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Quarterback Trevor Lawrence is going to be a popular streaming option almost every week this season and for good reason. He has avoided making costly mistakes so far, plays in a weak division and is surrounded by offensive weapons. This is not the week to slide him into your starting lineup, though. The Chargers have posted the eighth-best pass defense DVOA rating in the NFL despite playing two strong air raid offenses in the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. Seeing Lawrence pick apart a defense that exemplifies the "bend, don't break" mentality would be surprising here.
