Week 2 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Texans vs Broncos

Week 2 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Texans vs Broncos

Updated:

Two teams look for their first win of the 2022 NFL season when the Houston Texans meet the Denver Broncos in Week 2. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds have the Broncos tabbed as 9.5-point home favorites in this meeting.

If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's our start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 2 showdown.

Brandin Cooks Fantasy

Start Brandin Cooks, WR, Houston Texans: Once again, Brandin Cooks proved to be the Texans' most reliable fantasy performer in Week 1. The veteran wide receiver hauled in seven balls for 82 receiving yards, giving him 15.2 points in PPR — good for WR22. Even though the Broncos allowed the fewest fantasy points to wideouts last week, Cooks should still see plenty of work as the Texans play from behind. After all, he saw 12 targets last week and will continue being Davis Mills' go-to target as the year goes on. Expect another WR2/3 finish from Cooks.

Javonte Williams Fantasy

Start Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos: Javonte Williams rushed his way into fantasy managers' hearts last season and continued that trend in Week 1. The sophomore running back finished the game as the RB12 in PPR thanks to his 19.8 fantasy points. The good news for Williams is that he has a juicy matchup against a Texans defense that gave up 33.9 fantasy points to the Indianapolis Colts RBs — sixth-most in the NFL. Yes, Williams still has to share the backfield with Melvin Gordon, however, it was the former that led the snap share 38-27 on Monday. Throw in the fact that Williams saw 12 targets, it's hard not to like his potential.

Dameon Pierce Fantasy

Sit Dameon Pierce, RB, Houston Texans: With an average draft position of 81 in PPR leagues, a lot of people had high expectations for Dameon Pierce. Unfortunately, the rookie RB didn't have much of an impact to start his NFL career. Pierce finished Week 1 with 4.9 points (RB54), only seeing 12 opportunities (11 carries, one reception) for 39 total yards from scrimmage. Things don't look any more promising after the Broncos held the Seahawks RBs to only 7.9 fantasy points (No. 31). With veteran rusher Rex Burkhead also seeing 30 more offensive snaps than his rookie counterpart, keep Pierce on the bench for now.

KJ Hamler Fantasy

Sit KJ Hamler, WR, Denver Broncos: Expected to be his team's No. 3 WR this year, KJ Hamler had a forgettable showing last week. He failed to catch his only target of the day despite playing 60.6% of offensive snaps. Don't count on a significant bounce-back performance this week. Taking into account that Broncos QB Russell Wilson targeted Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton 14 times, even the desperate should avoid Hamler.
