Week 2 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Colts vs Jaguars

A pair of AFC South rivals meet head-to-head in Week 2 as the Indianapolis Colts travel to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list the Colts as a 4.5-point favorite in a game that is full of talented playmakers on both sides of the football.

Nyheim Hines Fantasy

Start Nyheim Hines, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Every fantasy manager is going to start Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman against a questionable Jaguars defense. Another name to keep an eye on is running back Nyheim Hines. Hines was quarterback Matt Ryan's second-favorite target on Sunday as he racked up 50 yards on 6 receptions. He also added 5 yards on the ground across 3 carries. Keep in mind Hines has totaled 356 yards and 3 touchdowns on 72 touches (44 receptions) in eight career games against Jacksonville. That's good for an average of 12.2 PPR fantasy points per contest. Hines is a sneaky FLEX option this week.

Christian Kirk Fantasy

Start Christian Kirk, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars provided quarterback Trevor Lawrence with a new go-to weapon in the form of Christian Kirk this past offseason and it didn't take long for a connection to form between the two pros. Kirk led all Jacksonville players with 6 receptions and 117 receiving yards in Week 1. He also saw 3 red zone targets, which bodes well for his touchdown opportunities moving forward. The Colts are not an easy matchup by any means, but Indianapolis did give up the third-most receiving touchdowns to opposing wide receivers in 2021. Kirk's role in this offense gives him WR2 upside moving forward.

Matt Ryan Fantasy

Sit Matt Ryan, QB, Indianapolis Colts: Matt Ryan racked up a whopping 50 pass attempts in Week 1, yet only finished as the No. 19 QB in fantasy football because he threw just 1 touchdown to go along with 1 interception. That has to be concerning as Ryan may never again get as much leeway as he did versus the Houston Texans. Taylor rushed for 161 yards and 1 touchdown on 31 carries, proving he is still the focal point of this offense. If the Colts can get out to an early lead on the Jaguars, they are going to run the ball on every drive. Ryan is nothing more than a backup QB option in fantasy football.

Travis Etienne Fantasy

Sit Travis Etienne, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Fantasy managers that were wondering how the snap count would differ between Travis Etienne and James Robinson got their answer in Week 1. Etienne played in 51% of the offensive snaps and Robinson played in 49% of the offensive snaps. While this certainly doesn't mean that it is going to be a backfield by committee in Jacksonville for the rest of the season, it makes it hard to trust Etienne in Week 2. After all, the Colts gave up only 36 yards on 5 receptions to RBs in Week 1. That limits Etienne's upside in this game and makes him a FLEX option at best.
