Week 8 of the 2022 NCAA college football season includes several interesting rivalry matchups, including action from the Pac-12. One of the conference's more intriguing showdowns of the week is a meeting between the Washington Huskies and California Golden Bears.

Can Washington figure out a way to get its first road win of the season? Or will California put an end to its losing ways by getting its first victory in October?

Washington vs Cal Odds

According to FanDuel Sportsbook's college football odds, Washington is a clear -310 favorite on the moneyline (7.5-point spread) in a game with a 55.5-point over/under.

What should college football fans expect in this matchup, and where can bettors find value?

Washington vs Cal Prediction and Best Bet

This Pac-12 rivalry has favored one side more than the other lately. Though the all-time series has been relatively close (53-41-3 in Washington's favor), the Badgers have won nine of their last 12 meetings against the Golden Bears.

Washington's offense this season might be good enough to keep the series trending in its favor. The Huskies have the 10th-best offense this season (40.5 PPG), whereas the Golden Bears are averaging only 21.6 PPG (No. 101. Furthermore, California has been held to 22 total points in its last two outings.

Making it harder to trust the Golden Bears is the fact that they lost 20-13 to Colorado last week — a team that was 0-5 before that matchup. Although Washington hasn't been perfect, neither of its losses was to a team as bad as the Buffaloes.

This is a game where things shouldn't be overthought. California just isn't good this year and its recent struggles highlight that. Washington should walk out of this game with the road win.

Having said that, I'm comfortable with backing Washington at -7.5 on the spread, as well as the under on the 55.5-point total.
