Monday, Jan. 23's NCAA college basketball schedule includes some ACC action as the Virginia Tech Hokies are set to host the Duke Blue Devils at 7 p.m. ET.

Virginia Tech has experienced nothing but losses lately. The Hokies fell 51-50 to rank Clemson on Tuesday, extending their losing streak to seven games in the process. Meanwhile, Duke has been victorious in three of its last four games, most recently picking up a 68-66 win against Miami over the weekend.

Can Virginia Tech deliver a victory for the Cassell Coliseum crowd? Or will Duke only further add to its ACC rival's woes?

Virginia Tech vs Duke Prediction & Pick

Even though Virginia Tech is the favorite tonight, I don't think that returning home will help the Hokies that much. For starters, their offense has struggled during their skid, averaging just 66.3 PPG compared to 72.6 PPG on the season. Furthermore, Virginia Tech has a minus-5.0 scoring margin over that span.

Duke isn't perfect, but Jon Scheyer's team has held opponents to fewer than 70 points in three of the last four games. The Blue Devils' 40.1 rebounds per game (No. 7) also prove that they'll be ready for any mistakes from the struggling Hokies, who are only shooting 42.5% from the field and 30.9% from three-point range over their last three games.

With Virginia Tech being 1-7 against the ACC this season and the Blue Devils winning 14 of their last 19 games against the Hokies, I'm confident that Duke can win tonight.

Final Score Prediction: Duke: 71 | Virginia Tech: 66

Virginia Tech vs Duke Best Bet

Regarding the best bet, I'm taking Duke to win this one outright. The Blue Devils are the clear-cut better team and have proven that with their 78.6% all-time winning percentage over the Hokies. It also helps that Virginia Tech has lost five consecutive ACC matchups.

Duke's superior paint presence and overall defense will frustrate Virginia Tech all night, leading to another Blue Devils victory.

Bet: Duke ML (+126)
