Vikings Totally Disrespected By Betting Odds Against Lions in Week 14

Updated:

The oddsmakers who come up with sports betting lines are typically pretty good at their jobs. There's a reason the house always wins, after all.

That said, it's hard to see the logic behind the Minnesota Vikings being listed as underdogs against the Detroit Lions in Week 14.

Vikings vs Lions Odds

According to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds, the Vikings are listed as 1.5-point road underdogs against the Lions on Sunday.

Based on how both teams have played this year, Detroit being favored is pretty shocking. Minnesota has the second-best record in the NFL at 10-2, which is five games better than Detroit's 5-7 mark. The Vikings have also won nine of their last 10 games, are 4-1 on the road this year and already beat the Lions back in Week 3.

So what gives? Detroit has won four of its last five games (with the one loss coming by three points to the Buffalo Bills), so the Lions have momentum on their side as well. They're also at home, which gives them a slight advantage.

There have also been reports this week of a lot of big money coming in on Detroit, which has skewed the odds in their favor.

While there are many reasons for the Lions being favored, the Vikings appear to be undervalued here. Either way, this is shaping up to be a great matchup between division rivals with two of the best offenses in the NFL.
