VIDEO: Remembering When the Ichiro Impersonator Interferred With a Live Ball During Mariners Game

Updated:

If Ichiro Suzuki never played for your favorite baseball team, then you probably don't know about the guy who has followed him around for much of his career, known as his "impersonator" of sorts.

From Seattle to the Yankees to Miami, this guy followed Ichiro everywhere and would attend games dressed in full uniform. In fact, he's such a good look-a-like that he's been fooling fans for years, thinking it was actually Ichiro who had come into the stands to sign autographs and take pictures after the game.

However, during this game, the Ichiro clone seemed to be taking his role too seriously and took his method acting a bit too far. Sitting along the first baseline, a ball that stayed fair rolls right in front of him and he reaches out with the help of some fellow fans and grabs the live ball.

The game is forced to come to a stop for fan interference and security comes to talk it over with him, and kick him out of the game.

As one of the best fielders in the majors during his playing years, the Ichiro imposter had to dedicate more energy to that part of his craft. He can't be having mental lapses like that, the real Ichiro would never.
