Randall Cunningham is fondly remembered as one of the best quarterbacks the Philadelphia Eagles ever had. Over 11 seasons with the Eagles, he went 63-43-1, threw for 22,877 yards, and rushed for 3,133 yards.

While Cunningham was known for being one of the first true dual-threat quarterbacks, he was also an All-American punter at UNLV. In fact, one day in the 1989 season, he put himself in the record books with a 91-yard punt against the New York Giants.

With the score tied 17-17 and the Eagles pinned in their own end zone, head coach Buddy Ryan decided to let Cunningham take a shot at punting. Cunningham did a perfect job, unleashing a punt that traveled nearly 70 yards in the air before rolling inside the Giants 10-yard line. The returner, Dave Meggett decided to recover the punt and was quick tackled.

In the final tally, Cunningham's punt had traveled 91 yards, which is by far the longest punt in Eagles history. The punt actually sits third all-time among NFL punts in history behind Shawn McCarthy's 93-yard punt in 1989 and Steve O'Neal's 98-yard punt in 1969.

The Eagles would go on to win the game 24-17 on a fourth-quarter rushing touchdown from Keith Byars. Although Cunningham had a rather pedestrian day behind center with just 140 passing yards and an interception, he still was able to put his name in the record books. The Eagles would go 11-5 and make the playoffs, but lost in the first round to the Los Angeles Rams.
