VIDEO: Remembering When LaDainian Tomlinson Threw a TD Pass to Drew Brees

Updated:

It feels like a lifetime ago when Drew Brees played quarterback for the San Diego Chargers, because of everything he has accomplished since then in New Orleans, but he did spend five years with the Chargers after being drafted in the second round. He even caught one touchdown pass.

Who better than to throw the touchdown than Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson? It's a simple bootleg pass, but what's more impressive is Brees' athleticism in his youth. He resembles Carson Wentz or Josh Allen as he dives for that pylon, totally disregarding his body. The Drew Brees we know now probably wouldn't be making a play like this.

The modern-day NFL quarterback would be though. These types of trick plays have become more common than ever in recent years, as we've seen the quarterback position become more athletic than ever. The irony is that a pocket passer like Brees was actually ahead of his time in this regard.

Sept. 28, 2003, may have marked Brees' only career receiving touchdown, but it was an early sign of things to come in the NFL among others. Leave it to an NFL legend like Brees to lead the way.
