VIDEO: Remembering When Justin Evans Lit Up Derrick Henry in College

Updated:

Derrick Henry is a 6-foot-3, 240-pound running back who ran a 4.54 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. In other words, he's not an easy man to bring down. NFL defenses found that out the hard way this year, when Henry led the league with 1,540 rushing yards and 16 scores.

But this throwback clip should make Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans optimistic about Justin Evans' future in the league. Not only did he prove its possible to bring Henry down, he showed you can lay him out, too.

Back in his Texas A&M days, Evans lowered his shoulder, left his feet and knocked Henry on the ground, making for an absolutely tremendous hit on one of the NFL's best.

He missed the entire 2019 season due to injury, but Evans has been a serviceable NFL player, especially in the run game. Over his two healthy seasons, he received a grade higher than 70.0 from Pro Football Focus as a run defender.

This clip is certainly proof that he's capable of more once he gets back to full health.
