VIDEO: Remembering The All-Time Bad Beat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs Delivered to Bettors in Super Bowl 54

Updated:

While most, if not, all Kansas City Chiefs fans were likely completed uninterested in Patrick Mahomes rushing for more than 29.5 yards in last year's Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers so long as he secured the win, the same can't be said for some sports bettors.

After rallying the Chiefs from a 20-10 fourth-quarter deficit to secure that 31-20 win and first Super Bowl for the Chiefs in 50 years, Mahomes had 44 rushing yards to show for it with just moments remaining – well over his over/under of 29.5 yards.

However, soon after the Chiefs fielded the victory formation to close out the game on kneeing the clock out, anyone who bet Mahomes' rushing over may have recognized trouble brewing on the horizon.

And unfortunately for those few, tragedy struck just perfectly after Mahomes took a knee to lose 3, 5 and 7 rushing yards consecutively to bring his final rushing total down to 29.0 – 0.5 yards under his total.

Mahomes' rushing yard over/under this year is set at 19.5, per FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl prop bets.
