Shevchenko vs Grasso Prediction

Valentina Shevchenko is set to defend her flyweight title against No. 5 ranked Alexa Grasso at UFC 285 on March 4. It's a battle between two fighters accustomed to winning. Shevchenko has emerged victorious in each of her last nine bouts, while Grasso has posted a 7-3-0 record in her UFC career.

It shouldn't be too surprising to see Shevchenko listed as a heavy favorite here. The 34-year-old has suffered one close call in her title defense fights since 2019, beating Taila Santos via split decision in June of 2022. Every other bout has ended in a knockout, submission or unanimous decision victory.

Grasso is no slouch, but the 29-year-old pales in comparison to Shevchenko in two important facets. Grasso absorbs 4.02 significant strikes per minute and logs 0.44 takedowns per 15 minutes. The champ absorbs only 1.90 significant strikes per minute and tallies 2.53 takedowns per 15 minutes.

I'll side with Valentina Shevchenko to emerge victorious.

Shevchenko vs Grasso Best Bet

Let me reiterate that Grasso has been impressive since moving up to the flyweight division, posting a 4-0-0 record and winning her first five-round main event at UFC Fight Night 212. She is deserving of a chance at the title. While that may be the case, she is far from a dangerous opponent for Shevchenko.

Shevchenko had earned three wins via stoppage prior to her win in June and has the skills to knock out her opponent with one brutal punch or make her tap with a nasty submission move. The "Bullet" has salivating at the thought og her next fight, too, so expect her motivation to be at an all-time high.

Bet: Valentina Shevchenko by KO/TKO (TBD)
