UTSA vs Texas Week 3 Game Info

2022 NCAA College Football Game
UTSA Roadrunners (1-1) vs. No. 21 Texas Longhorns (1-1)
Date: Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Venue: DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium — Austin, TX
Coverage: Longhorns Network

Week 3 of the 2022 NCAA college football season includes a showdown between the UTSA Roadrunners and No. 21 Texas Longhorns. After a loss to open the year, the Roadrunners earned a hard-fought 41-38 overtime victory against Army in Week 2. Wideout De'Corian Clark won the game for his team with a touchdown in OT — the icing on the cake to his 90-yard day.

Though the Longhorns lost last week, they have nothing to be ashamed of. They took No. 1 Alabama to its limit, falling just short in the form of a 20-19 final score. It was looking like Texas was set to take home the victory before Alabama stole the victory on a field goal with 10 seconds remaining.

Moneyline: UTSA: (+340) | TEX: (-465)
Spread: UTSA: +11.5 (-110) | TEX: -11.5 (-110)
Total: 61.5 — Over: (-105) | Under: (-115)

Texas enters this contest as the favorite on the spread. This 8 p.m. ET clash also features a total of 61.5, which is higher than most of this week's college football projected totals.

UTSA vs Texas Prediction & Pick

Though UTSA technically has more momentum, I don't expect the Roadrunners to perform well against a team that nearly defeated the best program in the nation. It also doesn't help that UTSA is an abysmal 1-7 straight up in its last eight games against the Big 12, whereas Texas tends to handle C-USA opponents with ease.

UTSA also went to overtime in each of its first two games, highlighting the school's inability to assert itself against the competition. The Roadrunners have surrendered an average of 414.5 total yards and 37.5 points to start the campaign and if they think that the Longhorns won't take advantage of poor play like that, they're in for a rude awakening.

Final Score Prediction: Texas: 35 | UTSA: 21

UTSA vs Texas Betting Trends

- UTSA is 1-4 against the spread (ATS) in its last five games played in Week 3.
- Texas is 5-0 ATS in its last five games against C-USA opponents.
- The total has hit the over in each of UTSA's last five road games.
- The total has hit the over in five of Texas' last six Week 3 matchups.

With how well the Longhorns played the Crimson Tide last week, I don't expect the Roadrunners to give them much of a challenge. Combining UTSA's inability to defend with Texas' well-rounded play to start the year, I don't doubt that the Longhorns can cover the 11.5-point spread here.

After all, they're 5-0 ATS in their last five games versus C-USA teams for a reason.

Bet: Texas -11.5 (-110)
