Utah vs Washington State Week 9 Game Info

2022 NCAA College Football Game
No. 14 Utah Utes (5-2, 3-1 Pac-12) vs. Washington State Cougars (4-3, 1-3 Pac-12)
Date: Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022
Time: 10 p.m. ET
Venue: Martin Stadium — Pullman, WA
Coverage: FS1

Week 9 of the 2022 NCAA college football season includes a Pac-12 showdown between the No. 14 Utah Utes and Washington State Cougars. After having a bye last week, the Utes hope to continue the momentum that they created after snagging a 43-42 win against then-No. 7 USC back in Week 7.

Meanwhile, Washington State's 3-0 start to the campaign is all but erased now that the program has lost three of its last four games. The Cougars' most recent loss came in a 24-10 defeat to Oregon State in a game where Washington State couldn't get anything rolling.

Utah vs Washington State Odds & Spread

Moneyline: UTAH: (-320) | WSU: (+255)
Spread: UTAH: -8.5 (-105) | WSU: +8.5 (-115)
Total: 55.5 — Over: (-110) | Under: (-110)

Utah enters this contest as a clear home favorite on the spread. This 10 p.m. ET clash also features a total of 55.5, which is average compared to the rest of this week's projected totals.

Utah vs Washington State Prediction & Pick

Though Washington State has provided trouble in the past, Utah seems to know how to handle its Pac-12 rival now. The Utes have won three straight games in this head-to-head rivalry, outscoring the Cougars, 107 to 54 over that stretch.

I fully expect Utah's success to continue this week. After all, the Utes are 3-1 straight up against the Pac-12 this season and even have the aforementioned win over USC — the same Trojans team that crushed the Cougars, 30-14, back on Oct. 8.

Meanwhile, Washington State is 1-3 against the conference while also dropping both of its last two games against ranked schools. On top of that, the Utes excel at the passing game, which could be an issue for the Cougars considering how they are giving up 312.7 passing yards per home game, ranking 117th-worst in the nation.

In other words, back Utah to continue its winning ways over Washington State.

Final Score Prediction: Utah: 35 | Washington State: 21

Utah vs Washington State Betting Trends

- Utah is 9-1 straight up in its last 10 games against the Pac-12.
- Washington State is 5-2 against the spread (ATS) in its last seven games against Utah.
- The total has hit the over in seven of Utah's last eight road games.
- The total has hit the over in six of Washington State's last nine games against Utah.

Utah vs Washington State Best Bet

Although Washington State is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games against Utah, don't expect that trend to continue. Over their three-game winning streak in this rivalry, the Utes have beaten the Cougars by at least 11 points in each of those games, winning by as many as 25 in one of them.

With Utah having one of the best offenses in the country and Washington State averaging 17.3 PPG over its last three games, I have full confidence that the Utes can cover as 8.5-point favorites.

Bet: Utah -8.5 (-105)
