Quarterbacks were the talk of the 2021 NFL Draft given a deep class at the position. Five QBs went in the first round alone, though several talented prospects were taken after that and picked up as undrafted free agents.

The Kansas City Chiefs had no big QB need with MVP Patrick Mahomes under center. They still addressed depth at the position with an undrafted free agent signing.

Here's a look at the Chiefs' updated QB depth chart for 2021.

Chiefs QB Depth Chart 2021

1. Patrick Mahomes

No surprise here. The 2018 MVP and 2019 Super Bowl MVP is under contract until 2031 after signing a massive 10-year, $450 million contract extension. He put up 4,740 yards and 38 TDs (with just 6 INTs) while leading the Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance last season.

2. Chad Henne

Chad Henne is firmly slotted in as Mahomes' backup. The veteran made one spot start in Week 17, throwing for 218 yards and 2 TDs in the regular-season finale. He also filled in under center after Mahomes was injured in the Divisional Round, completing 6 of 8 passes with 66 yards and an INT. The 35-year-old is a free agent at the end of this upcoming season.

3. Shane Buechele

The Chiefs' newest QB addition. Kansas City reportedly won a bidding war for Buchele's services after he went undrafted this year. He threw for 7,024 yards, 57 TDs and 16 INTs as a starter for SMU in his final two collegiate seasons. Buechele has a chance to learn from both Mahomes and Henne as he competes for QB3 duties.

4. Jordan Ta'amu

Jordan Ta'amu was signed to a futures deal this offseason after spending time with the Chiefs as a practice squad player last season. He threw for 1,050 yards and 5 TDs in five games for the XFL's St. Louis BattleHawks in 2020.

5. Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon is the other young QBs the Chiefs signed to a futures deal this offseason. He threw for 5,579 yards, 48 TDs and 16 INTs in his final year at Washington State in 2019.
