Updated Quarterback Depth Chart for Giants After NFL Draft

Updated Quarterback Depth Chart for Giants After NFL Draft

Updated:

Quarterbacks were the talk of the 2021 NFL Draft given a deep class at the position. Five QBs went in the first round alone, though several talented prospects were taken after that and also picked up as undrafted free agents.

The New York Giants seem to be pretty confident in their group of gunslingers as they did not draft a quarterback this year. They head into 2021 with playoff aspirations on their mind.

Here's a look at the Giants' updated QB depth chart for 2021.

Giants QB Depth Chart 2021

1. Daniel Jones

It is no secret that the Giants are committed to Daniel Jones as the team's starter moving forward. He put together a solid 2020 season completing 62.5% of his passes for 2,943 yards and 10 interceptions. However, Jones took a step down when it came to passing touchdowns as he had just 11 in 2020 compared to 24 during his rookie season. The Giants will only go as far as Jones can take them, so he needs to step up and lead this team next season.

2. Mike Glennon

The Giants signed veteran quarterback Mike Glennon to a one-year deal earlier this offseason and he seems to be locked in as Jones' backup in 2021. Glennon started five games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season and threw for 1,072 yards, 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions during that span. The Giants will be Glennon's sixth team in the last six NFL seasons.

3. Clayton Thorson

Clayton Thorson was added to the Giants' practice squad early on last season and was even brought up to be Jones' backup during Weeks 13 and 15. He signed a futures contract to remain with the team back in January. However, he hasn't shown any signs of being a capable backup quarterback yet and will likely find himself back on the practice squad in 2021.

4. Joe Webb

While he does qualify as a quarterback, Joe Webb was used sparingly on special teams last season. Head coach Joe Judge loves to see versatility in his players, but there doesn't seem to be enough room on the roster for Webb at his point. He'll be fighting for his job in training camp.
