The 2022-23 college basketball season continues on Sunday with a thrilling matchup between the St. John's Red Storm and No. 6 UConn Huskies. St. John's snapped a five-game losing streak with a 77-61 win over Butler on Tuesday. Joel Soriano posted a great double-double (20 points & 10 rebounds).
Meanwhile, UConn couldn't keep up in an 82-76 loss to Marquette on Wednesday. Donovan Clingan logged a double-double off the bench (20 points & 10 rebounds), but the team shot just 27.3% from long range. The Huskies have lost three of their last four games after winning their first 15 games.

UConn vs St. John's (NY) Prediction & Pick
UConn is in an undeniable slump right now. The Huskies average 80.0 points per game on the year (T-No. 19 in NCAA), but have been held to under 75 points in five of their last six games. They have also averaged 20.0 personal fouls over their last three games, totaling 77 free throws for their opponents.
The good news is that Sunday presents a bounce-back opportunity. St. John's allows a whopping 77.1 points per away game and also gives up 8.2 offensive rebounds per game. Expect the Huskies to take advantage of a few second-chance possessions and run up the score in the second half.
UConn is riding a 15-game home winning streak and I don't see that ending on Sunday afternoon.
Final Score Prediction: UConn: 79 | St. John's: 69
UConn vs St. John's (NY) Best Bet
I like the Huskies to win here, but I find it difficult to trust head coach Dan Hurley's team to cover a massive 13.5-point spread. UConn is only 1-5 against the spread (ATS) in its last six games and hasn't won a game more than 13 points since December 17. The Red Storm should not be underestimated.
St. John's is 4-1 ATS in its last five games in January and an impressive 6-0-1 ATS in its last seven games against UConn. The Red Storm have even won four of those seven games outright, so they have the talent to keep the score close. Fade the Huskies until they return to their early season form.
Bet: St. John's Red Storm +13.5 (-110)
