The 2022-23 college basketball season continues on Wednesday with an exciting matchup between the No. 5 UConn Huskies and Florida Gators. UConn remains unbeaten on the year after a 74-64 win over Oklahoma State on Thursday. Sophomore Jordan Hawkins dropped 26 points (6-13 shooting).

Meanwhile, Florida took care of business in an 89-51 win over Stetson on Sunday. 11 different Gators scored at least a bucket and were led by the efforts of Alex Fudge and Myreon Jones. Fudge logged a near double-double (11 points & 8 rebounds), while Jones tallied 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

UConn vs Florida Prediction & Pick

UConn has looked unstoppable this year as it is off to its first 9-0 start since the 2013-14 season. The Huskies rank 12th in points per game (82.9), 11th in assists per game (18.0) and third in total rebounding rate (57.2%). Their offense is firing on all cylinders heading into Wendesday night.

That does not bode well for a Florida squad that ranks 83rd in defensive efficiency and is allowing 69.0 points per game (T-No. 146 in NCAA). Keep in mind the Gators may be without one of their top playmakers, too. Senior Kyle Lofton is dealing with a back injury and listed as questionable to play.

UConn has yet to win a game by less than 10 points, so I feel comfortable trusting the Huskies here.

Final Score Prediction: UConn: 79 | Florida: 69

UConn vs Florida Best Bet

It's already been mentioned how stellar the Huskies have been on the offensive side of the court. It's important to note their defense has been dominant as well. UConn ranks seventh in the country in terms of defensive efficiency and is giving up just 58.7 points per game on the year (No. 15 in NCAA).

Head coach Dan Hurley's team controls the game on both ends of the court and that is why it is an amazing 8-0-1 against the spread (ATS) this season. The Huskies are also 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games played in December, while Florida is 2-12 ATS in its last 14 games following an outright win.

Bet: UConn Huskies -4.5 (-110)
